Oman Air may not have the world’s largest route network, but it’s been expanding in recent years — and that includes its decision to join Oneworld. While it’s not a member yet, you can now redeem your Alaska Airlines miles for flights. Let’s take a look at the details

Oman Air Bookable With Alaska Miles

This is the latest step forward in Oman Air joining Oneworld.

You can’t yet earn Alaska miles when flying Oman Air (though that’s coming soon), but it’s now possible to book Oman Air flights with your Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles. Is that a good idea? Honestly, yes. Pricing is according to Alaska’s award charts, which makes it comparable to other airlines.

Oman Air doesn’t fly to the Americas, but using Alaska miles for routes it does fly can provide great value. Here are some examples:

  • London to Muscat: 55,000 miles in business class
  • Muscat to Bangkok: 50,000 miles in business class
  • Muscat to Dubai: 7,500 miles in economy class

And while Oman Air doesn’t have a huge route network, it does serve quite a few destinations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. These include:

  • London
  • Frankfurt
  • Istanbul
  • Paris
  • Bangkok
  • Zanzibar
  • Doha
  • Dubai
  • Bahrain
  • Malé

Oneworld doesn’t have great representation within the Middle East, especially since Qatar Airways has been so dicey about releasing award space (and it can cost insane amounts of Alaska miles when you want to redeem).

Generally, your best bet is to either rely on British Airways and its ridiculous surcharges or try to find space with Royal Jordanian. Oman Air is a nice addition to Mileage Plan now, and award space is great, even in business class.

Oman Air’s business class is also very highly reviewed, despite the fact that it’s laid out in a 2-2-2 configuration. This is thanks to the direct aisle access each passenger receives, as well as the privacy divider that slides up.

Perhaps even more intriguing is that Oman Air offers flights to the Maldives 3 times per week. Airlines are notoriously stingy when it comes to releasing award space to the Maldives, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Oman Air. It’s a nice little addition to a sought-after route.

Final Thoughts

Oman Air flights are now bookable using your Alaska Airlines miles. While the redemptions aren’t quite as good as they would have been before Alaska revamped its award charts in March 2024, you’ll still find decent pricing on flights all across Oman Air’s route network. What’s more, award availability is excellent, and the airline operates flights to several sought-after destinations, including much of Europe and the Maldives.
