When Chase added a Peloton membership credit to the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, I ignored it.

I don’t own a Peloton bike or use Peloton classes, so I figured the benefit wasn’t for me. But after taking a closer look at the card’s perks, I realized I could use the $120 annual Peloton credit to cover the cost of Peloton’s Strength+ app, a standalone strength-training platform that doesn’t require Peloton equipment.

Instead of letting the benefit go unused, I activated it — and now I get a free year of strength workouts I can use at home, in a gym, or while traveling. Here’s exactly how it works and how to enroll.

But it also offers a suite of lifestyle benefits that extend beyond travel, including:

I can use the Chase Sapphire Reserve card to dine out (or order in), catch up on shows, and enjoy live entertainment. The lifestyle benefits alone are worth more than $1,500 annually, which far exceeds the card’s $795 annual fee.

Hot Tip:

Learn why the Chase Sapphire Reserve card is one of the best premium travel cards with easy-to-use credits and unmatched perks.

How the Peloton Credit Works

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card earns:

  • 10 points per $1 on Peloton hardware and accessories (up to 50,000 total points)
  • Up to $120 in annual statement credits for eligible Peloton memberships ($10 per month)

Eligible memberships include All-Access Membership, Rental, App One, App+, Guide, and Strength+.

The credit is straightforward: Activate once in your Chase account, pay for an eligible Peloton membership with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card, and you’ll receive up to $10 back each month as a statement credit.

Because the Peloton Strength+ app costs $9.99 per month (after a 14-day free trial), the credit effectively covers the full cost.

How To Activate the Peloton Membership Credit

The Peloton membership statement credit must be activated in your Chase account before you can use it. Start by logging in to your online account and navigating to the benefits section. Then find Peloton in the statement credits section.

Click on the Peloton membership credit, then activate the benefit.

You must purchase your membership directly from Peloton for the credit to work. For example, you can’t pay for it using the App Store.

Sign up for an account using your Chase Sapphire Reserve card on the Peloton website.

There’s a 14-day free trial, after which you’re billed $9.99 per month. When you sign up, you’ll create an account with your email and password, then use that login on the app. Use your Chase Sapphire Reserve card directly as the payment method instead of Apple Pay so it’s billed by Peloton, not Apple.

After payment, you’re directed to download the Peloton Strength+ app from the App Store. The app is only available on iOS, not Android.

Sign in using the email and password you created when you checked out. Create a username, confirm your age, and choose whether you want to turn on notifications and sync with your Apple Health app.

How To Use the Peloton Strength+ App

Peloton Strength+ is great because you can choose from instructor-led workout programs or generate a custom workout, and it offers filters to find the right workout for your preferences.

It doesn’t require Peloton equipment and can be used with dumbbells, barbells, machines, or just bodyweight, which is why it works so well for travelers on the go.

That means you can use the same app for a workout at home, at the gym, or in a hotel room or fitness center. If you already do strength training and need structure or guidance, this app can fill the gap.

The app focuses solely on strength training and doesn’t offer live classes or cardio-focused workouts.

With programs, you can select a workout series with the same instructor. You can browse programs or set filters to find one that meets your preferences, your focus, and your preferred workout length.

You can also generate a workout tailored to your needs. Hit the Generator tab at the bottom of the screen, then use the filters to select the duration, focus, and available equipment. It will put together a series of workout moves for a fully customized workout.

Whether you do a workout program or a generated workout, you’ll see moves demonstrated by an instructor.

Bottom Line:

The Peloton Strength+ app delivers flexible workouts that meet you where you are. You can pick a dedicated program for each week or generate a focused workout on the fly based on how much time you have, your equipment, and what you want to work on. It’s great for keeping up with a fitness routine while traveling.

Is the Peloton Credit Worth Using?

If you don’t own Peloton hardware, it’s easy to dismiss this benefit.

But Strength+ makes the credit usable without buying a bike or treadmill. Since the app costs $9.99 per month and the credit reimburses $10 per month, it’s effectively free as long as you keep the card and activate the benefit.

For Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders already paying the annual fee, this is one of the easiest lifestyle credits to maximize.

Final Thoughts

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card’s Peloton credit isn’t just for bike owners.

By using the Strength+ app, I turned a benefit I almost ignored into a year of structured strength workouts with no out-of-pocket cost. It’s a simple way to get more value from the card beyond its travel perks, and it’s worth activating if you already carry the card.
