Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Southwest’s personal cards come in 3 flavors: the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card.

Currently, all 3 cards boast an elevated 75,000-point welcome offer, which can be worth upwards of $1,000 toward Southwest flights, but now these welcome bonus offers are set to end on December 11, 2023, at 9 a.m. EST.

Keep reading for the details of these welcome bonus offers.

Details of New Welcome Offers on Southwest Credit Cards

You can earn a 75,000-point welcome bonus after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after account opening when applying for the Southwest Plus card, Southwest Premier card, or the Southwest Priority card.

As Southwest Rapid Rewards is a revenue-based loyalty program, you’ll most likely achieve fixed-value redemption for your points. We estimate Southwest Rapid Rewards points to be worth 1.3 cents apiece, making this current welcome offer worth about $975 toward Southwest flights.

If you’re looking to earn a Companion Pass for unlimited BOGO tickets (just pay $5.60 in taxes and fees per ticket), you’ll want to consider one of these Southwest personal cards. These cards also give you a 10,000-point boost toward earning a Companion Pass, which normally requires 135,000 tier qualifying points (TQP) in a calendar year.

Therefore, you’re more than 60% of the way there once you earn the welcome bonus offer on any of these cards. You will have 3 months to reach the minimum spend, and you’ll want to time it strategically for early 2024. That way, you can enjoy Companion Pass for the rest of 2024 and 2025.

Overview of Southwest Credit Cards

The Southwest Plus card comes with the lowest annual fee. At $69 per year, you’ll also get benefits with the Southwest Plus card such as 3,000 anniversary points and 2 EarlyBird Check-In credits.

The next tier up, you’ll find the Southwest Premier card with a $99 annual fee. Benefits of the Southwest Premier card include 6,000 anniversary points and 3x points on Southwest purchases.

Finally, the Southwest Priority card is suited for super fans with a $149 annual fee. But the $75 annual Southwest travel credit, 7,500 anniversary points, and 4 Upgraded Boardings every year are just some of the key benefits of the Southwest Priority card.

Hot Tip:

Recently, Southwest also unveiled elite status program changes for 2024, lowering qualification requirements and increasing TQP earnings on its cobranded cards.

Final Thoughts

These 75,000-point welcome bonus offers are a significant boost from the standard ones we’ve seen recently. Now may be the best time to jump on these offers if you’re working your way up to earn a Southwest Companion Pass, especially since these offers end at 9 a.m. EST on December 11, 2023.
