Spirit Airlines is making it easier for members to get Free Spirit status. The airline is offering a sweet promotion, where you can purchase Free Spirit Silver status for just $79. There’s also an offer for members who already have status, allowing them to upgrade to Gold status.

Here’s what you need to know.

How To Upgrade to Free Spirit Silver or Gold Status

Spirit Airlines is offering 2 opportunities to upgrade to Free Spirit status.

The first lets you upgrade to Free Spirit Silver status for just $79. Silver status is normally earned with at least 2,000 Status Qualifying Points (SQPs), spending at least $2,000 on base fare tickets, or having a Free Spirit credit card.

The second offer is for existing members who can upgrade to Free Spirit Gold status. According to AwardWallet, this option starts at $199. Gold status normally requires 5,000 SQPs or an additional $3,000 in spend beyond Silver ($5,000 total).

When you upgrade to either tier, you’ll have Free Spirit status through December 31, 2026.

Note that there are several terms and conditions to consider before purchasing.

Members who have previously done a status match are eligible for this offer if they meet the criteria. The upgrade will be processed within 5 to 10 business days. Finally, benefits cannot be applied to existing bookings to replace ancillary selections that have already been paid for.

Hot Tip:

Keep in mind that if you don’t already have Silver status, you won’t be able to bypass and register for the Gold offer. Instead, you’ll receive this message: “You are not eligible for an offer here, but you can upgrade to Free Spirit Silver status here.”

Is It Worth It?

Both promotions can be worth paying for the upgrade, especially if you fly Spirit regularly. Spirit offers 2 elite tiers: Silver and Gold. Both status tiers include perks such as elevated earnings on flights, seat selection, and more.

Final Thoughts
