This summer will see fledgling Canadian carrier Swoop increase its presence across its home country’s southern border into the U.S.
The ultra-low-cost airline will add 5 new cities to its route map: Burbank (BUR), Chicago (ORD), Nashville (BNE), New York (JFK), and San Francisco (SFO). As part of its expansion, Swoop will also add new routes from Las Vegas (LAS) to Hamilton (YHM) and Toronto (YYZ).
“As Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier, we are growing our fleet, expanding our network, and adding service to existing destinations to ensure we are ready to meet Canadian’s pent-up demand for travel experiences south of the border,” said Bert van der Stege, Head of Commercial and Finance at Swoop.
Swoop’s latest network expansion brings the total number of U.S. destinations served to 11 — let’s review all of the details.
Swooping in on the U.S.
Swoop’s existing routes to the U.S. include popular sunshine and vacation destinations such as Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA) in Florida, as well as Palm Springs (PSP) and San Diego (SAN) in California.
The new additions are to some of the largest cities in the U.S., such as Chicago, New York, and San Francisco.
For Canadians, as well as Americans living near Swoop’s U.S. destinations, these new routes will provide a host of new cross-border travel opportunities.
At the time of writing, the airline has just 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft in operation. However, deliveries of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are expected in the coming months.
Here’s some more information on each of these new routes:
Given that Las Vegas is a hugely popular destination across North America, it comes as no surprise that Swoop decided to add even more flights to the Nevada hotspot. Once the Las Vegas flights mentioned above commence, Swoop will serve Sin City nonstop from 3 Canadian cities (the airline already flies nonstop from Edmonton (YEG)).
Final Thoughts
Swoop hasn’t been around for all that long, but it’s already making a splash in the U.S. market.
With a current total of just 10 aircraft, the airline has a jam-packed summer schedule that will bring more travel possibilities for Americans and Canadians alike.
