If you have an American Airlines credit card from Citi, you’ll want to pay close attention. You may be able to earn 3x miles on purchases through a targeted spending offer.

Citi’s Targeted Spending Offer on AA Cards

Since these offers are targeted, it’s important to note that not everyone will receive an offer. Moreover, your offer could be different than the ones we’re discussing here.

That being said, it’s wise to check your email and your physical mailbox, as Citi has been known to send these kinds of offers via snail mail and/or email in the past.

The latest offer is aimed at those with Citi’s AAdvantage credit cards that earn American Airlines miles.

Eligible cardholders can earn 3 miles per $1 spent, up to 2,500 bonus miles. This offer runs through September 30, 2026. However, you must activate the offer by August 15.

This offer applies to purchases in the following categories:

Grocery stores
Convenience stores
Drugstores
Mass transit and commuter transportation (though Amtrak tickets are excluded).

Purchases from American Airlines, gas stations, and restaurants don’t qualify for bonus earnings.

Here are a few other points you should be aware of:

You must activate this offer by August 15, and it ends on September 30, 2026.
Bonus miles earned will be posted to your AAdvantage account within 8 to 10 weeks.

Which Cards Have This Offer?

We’re seeing this new offer on the Citi^® / AAdvantage^® Executive World Elite Mastercard^®, though it may be available on other American Airlines co-branded cards from Citi, such as the American Airlines AAdvantage^® MileUp^® and Citi^® / AAdvantage^® Platinum Select^® World Elite Mastercard^®. If you have one of these or another AAdvantage credit card, it’s worth checking to see if you’ve received a new spending offer on your card.

As with all targeted offers, they can vary significantly between cardholders and card products. Plus, not everyone will be targeted for the offer this time around.
