Marriott has debuted its first Ritz-Carlton hotel in the Pacific Northwest by opening a new property in Portland.

Here’s what you need to know.

First Ritz-Carlton property in the Pacific Northwest

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland has 251 rooms and suites spanning a whopping 35 floors.

The hotel, located in downtown Portland, boasts several dining options, an infinity pool, a spa, a 4,000-square-foot fitness studio and yoga studio, and more than 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

A brand signature, The Ritz-Carlton Club, is located on the 20th floor of the hotel and will offer lounge space and 5 daily meals.

The hotel is the first Ritz-Carlton property in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

In announcing the opening, Marriott says the hotel pays homage to Portland’s “rich local culture and landscape.”

“The Ritz-Carlton has always been committed to offering guests boundless opportunities for discovery and personal growth, and we are excited to unveil our doors for the very first time in the captivating and inspiring Pacific Northwest,” said Jenni Benzaquen, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader of The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts.

Bottom Line:

The Ritz-Carlton is one of Marriott’s most recognizable and high-end brands. The brand is synonymous with luxury, tailored service, and attention to detail. Today, you’ll find 110 Ritz-Carlton hotels in 35 countries and territories.

Booking The Ritz-Carlton, Portland With Marriott Bonvoy Points

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland is now open as of October 31, 2023. The hotel is a Marriott Bonvoy member, which means you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points and redeem them for stays.

Like other U.S. chains, Marriott no longer uses an award chart for its hotels, which means rates can be higher or lower depending on factors such as travel dates. Rates are priced appropriately for a Ritz Carlton, one of Marriott’s top-tier brands, at 73,000 points per night for dates in February 2024. You can also find cash rates of around $515 per night during the same period.

Given how high cash rates are, you’ll likely want to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for a stay, which are easy to earn. American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio, and both programs offer transfer bonuses on occasion.

Additionally, Marriott offers a handful of co-branded credit cards with big welcome bonuses and elite status.

Final Thoughts

Portland is one of the PNW’s most exciting cities, so it’s not surprising that Marriott would plant a Ritz-Carlton in the heart of the city’s skyline. For a Ritz-Carlton, award rates are pretty decent, so if you find yourself in Portland, make sure to check out this new skyscraper hotel!
