Marriott is making a big splash in North Africa, debuting its luxurious Ritz-Carlton brand in Morocco.

Here’s what you need to know about the new resort and how to book a stay.

Ritz-Carlton Brand Debuts in Morocco

Though the name may confuse you (it definitely tripped a few of us up), The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam, is not in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. It is in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

This new Ritz-Carlton is an intimate property with just 100 guest rooms and 17 suites

But what it lacks in room quantity, it more than makes up for in everything else. The 440-hectare resort has 4 dining outlets, cabanas, a spa, several pools, a fitness center, and nearly 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. All rooms in the palace-like hotel have a private terrace facing the pool and gardens.

“The debut of The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam marks a significant milestone for the Ritz-Carlton brand as we expand our footprint on the African continent and celebrate our first property in Morocco,” said Helen Leighton, vice president of luxury brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Our guests can expect the brand’s legendary service, sumptuous interiors, and a stunning natural setting that together create a sanctuary of luxury and serenity in the heart of Rabat.”

How To Book

The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam, is now open for guests and is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program. That means you can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at the resort.

Ritz-Carlton — one of Marriott’s top brands — is known to be pricey, and with good reason. At some properties around the world, it wouldn’t be out of the question to pay thousands of dollars a night for a room.

However, rates at the Rabat property are competitively priced, with standard rooms starting at around $400 per night this fall. Award rates are also pretty low, especially for a Ritz-Carlton. We’re seeing rates as low as 70,000 points per night this winter. These rates make this Ritz among the least expensive around!

Otherwise, you’ll want to book using points. There are a number of ways to earn lots of Marriott Bonvoy points, including:

Hot Tip:

If you manage to score one of the cheaper nights, you can use a Marriott free night certificate worth up to 85,000 points.

Final Thoughts

This stunning property that signifies that Marriott sees Morocco as an important market for its brand strategy. Even more exciting, this hotel is decently priced, whether you use cash or points.

We hope to explore this property for ourselves in the future — and that these attractive rates stick around!
