Tomorrow, March 28, 2025, Virgin Atlantic will open its sixth Clubhouse lounge worldwide and its second in California at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This opening marks the return of the Clubhouse to LAX after a 5-year hiatus.

Rather than trying to offer a typical airport lounge experience, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX is all about wellness.

Naturally, Virgin chose to incorporate elements unique to LA, with distinct nods to the film and music industries. Additionally, the lounge boasts day-to-night transition lighting that mirrors the local sunset, helping to align your circadian rhythm ahead of any one of the carrier’s 3 overnight flights to London.

Upgraded Points was invited to the new Clubhouse’s ribbon-cutting ceremony and preview event today before it opens to the public tomorrow morning. Here’s what you’ll find inside.

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Los Angeles LAX

Virgin Atlantic‘s newest Clubhouse is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT, sometimes known as Terminal B) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). From 2015 to 2020, Virgin Atlantic had a lounge at LAX in Terminal 2, which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the airline is back with a new home in TBIT, taking over a space that used to be home to an Etihad Airways lounge.

The airline announced the LAX Clubhouse in September of 2024.

A spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic says the lounge was designed with preflight wellness in mind. This new Clubhouse also showcases the airline’s signature touches, including a fully stocked bar and a social area. However, there are also new amenities that were “designed to encourage relaxation for a restful flight” to the U.K. and beyond via one of the airline’s connecting flights.

Previously, Virgin Atlantic passengers flying out of LAX used the Star Alliance lounge on level 6 near the TBIT atrium. This was an odd pairing since Virgin Atlantic is in the SkyTeam alliance. You’ll pass that lounge en route to the Clubhouse, taking the elevators to level 6 and then making a U-turn to your right to find it.

The new Clubhouse is on the smaller side, covering 4,400 square feet and offering seating for 70 guests.

Amenities

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX has exclusive partnerships with Flamingo Estate and FORME, joining the airline’s onboard partner TRIP for wellness experiences from check-in to arrival.

Ruby Room

To the right of the entrance, you’ll find this Hollywood-inspired space with a cinema and wireless headsets.

Multiple seating types are available, including plush chairs with Virgin Atlantic’s signature red themes and benches along the wall.

The Ruby Room also sells merchandise, including T-shirts and throwback airline amenity kits. I paused for a moment when I saw the unique light fixture.

The Royal Box

Tucked away at the edge of the Ruby Room is The Roy Box, a VIP space with adjustable mood lighting and a secret menu. Ask for the Drama Queen drink.

The Wing

Turning left from the entrance and going past the dining area, you’ll find The Wing. Here, there are 3 acoustically sealed work pods that honor Virgin Records’ legacy. This includes iconic studios like The Manor, Olympic Studios, and Sunset Sound.

The Wing also has a seating area on the opposite side of the Clubhouse’s main walkway. Here you’ll find high-back chairs and loveseats.

The Zen Den

At the far end of the lounge, you’ll find the Zen Den. This is an immersive space with sessions from FORME Studio that focus on relaxation, movement, and mindfulness. Videos in each category start with a personalized welcome video from Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic’s founder. These videos play on the interactive screen at the far end.

This space also has a sink and plush seating for freshening up.

Near the interactive video screen, there’s exercise equipment including a yoga mat, blocks, and weights. If you choose an exercise video, it will tell you what equipment you need before getting started.

Hot Tip:

Videos in the lounge last 5 to 10 minutes, so you don’t need to commit a lot of time. Use of the Zen Den is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Internet

The lounge has a private Wi-Fi network. You’ll need to ask an employee for the password, but the good news is that speeds are much better than most airport lounges, with nearly 105 Mbps downloads.

Restrooms

The Clubhouse has gendered restrooms at the rear of the lounge, flanking the Zen Den space. These are light and feel spacious.

Showers

Each bathroom has a shower, located inside the ADA toilet space, making the shower accessible as well. Bath products come from the Flamingo Estate’s Garden Essentials collection.

Departure Boards

Departure boards with flight and gate information are located near the entrance and next to the work pods in The Wing.

Bedtime Story

Virgin Atlantic partnered with actor and Emmy-winning TV host Alan Cumming to narrate the airline’s first-ever bedtime story called “ReLAX and Unwind with Alan Cumming.” Travelers can view and listen to the bedtime story to relax before a flight.

The airline says it conducted a survey and found that 44% of passengers in the U.S. are anxious about getting good rest on their flights, and 59% of them use things like stories, podcasts, or meditation to unwind before the trip.

Power

The lounge has an abundance of outlets that will ensure your devices stay charged. Near the glass to the concourse, there are floor outlets near the tables.

At the bar, there are hooks to keep your belongings off the floor and multiple outlets nearby, including USB-A and USB-C ports.

Unfortunately, there’s no planespotting available from the Clubhouse. Views only overlook the TBIT concourse below.

The Clubhouse’s stocked bar even has a special drink called Twisted Angel, a cocktail designed specifically for this lounge that features Aperol, gin, and even a nod to the halo lighting over the bar.

The barstools are comfortable thanks to their high backs and plush fabrics. There are more outlets available at each seat and wireless charging points built into the counter.

How To Access the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX

Eligible guests may enter the Clubhouse up to 3 hours before departure. The lounge will be open from 11:30 a.m. daily until Virgin’s last flight departs in the evening, typically around 11:30 p.m.

Access to the Clubhouse is available for those traveling in Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class — the airline’s name for its business class. These passengers can also bring a guest who is traveling with Virgin Atlantic or Delta Air Lines that same day. Delta One business class passengers also have access, assuming they’re traveling internationally, though they can’t bring guests into the Clubhouse.

Additionally, passengers with Flying Club Gold status can enter, and they’re permitted to bring a guest. That guest must be traveling with Virgin Atlantic or Delta and have a same-day boarding pass.

Those with elite status in other programs also have access. This includes Virgin Australia Velocity Club Gold, Platinum, and The Club members and Air New Zealand Airpoints Gold or Elite members when these passengers are flying internationally with Virgin Atlantic. SkyTeam Elite Plus members have access when they’re traveling on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, and they can bring a guest who’s traveling on a SkyTeam airline.

The airline also says customers connecting domestically can gain access, subject to the rules above, assuming they’re traveling on the same ticket and on the same day as their first flight. Your domestic connecting flight is unlikely to depart from the TBIT terminal, though it’s possible to connect between terminals airside (after security) at LAX.

Finally, as a sign of appreciation for their tireless efforts, active-duty firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department are welcome into the lounge before their upcoming Virgin Atlantic flights, regardless of class of travel. They will be admitted with their same-day boarding pass and firefighter ID. This offer is valid through June 30, 2025.

Hot Tip:

Virgin Atlantic offers a status match, which could be a great way to shorten your path to elite status and gain eligibility for Clubhouse access on upcoming flights.

Final Thoughts

Virgin Atlantic has brought its Clubhouse product back to LAX after several years. The airline gets pretty high marks for its lounges overall, and its latest outpost in Los Angeles looks like it’ll maintain the high standard set by some of the airline’s other lounges, most notably its flagship Clubhouse at its London Heathrow base.

Eligible flyers will have some unique amenities to take advantage of, thanks to this space’s focus on wellness. Combine this with solid food and beverage offerings, and the newest Clubhouse is shaping up to be a great place to spend a few hours before a flight across the Pond.
