Ready to spend some of your Hilton Honors points? A new luxury hotel is coming to Cancún this fall.
Here’s what you need to know.
Waldorf Astoria Cancun Debuts This Autumn
The Waldorf Astoria Cancun announced on its website that it is accepting guest reservations from November 1, 2022, and beyond.
The hotel is located just 15 minutes from the main airport, Cancún International Airport (CUN), and sits along 100 acres of Mayan coastline.
The property will feature 173 guest rooms and suites, and each will have ocean views and a private balcony with a plunge pool. There will be 70,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space for meetings.
Guests can enjoy 5 dining options, including a pool bar and a fine dining restaurant.
A spa with 21 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, a sauna, and a salon will also be available.
Waldorf Astoria Cancun is joining a crowded list of other Hilton hotels in the Cancún region, which includes properties such as the Hilton Cancun, an all-inclusive resort, and the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya Resort.
If you’re interested in making a reservation, be prepared to fork over some serious points or cash. Rates for this fall and winter start at 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night and can go up to a whopping 429,000 points per night. That’s because Hilton Honors uses variable award pricing, which can result in cheaper or more expensive points rates depending on many factors, such as booking during peak season.
Cash rates aren’t much cheaper, with the lowest rate for fall dates starting at $541 per night for an oceanfront view king guest room, a 675 sq. ft. room with a balcony and a private plunge pool.
If you’re looking to beef up your Hilton Honors account ahead of the Waldorf Astoria’s November opening, you have several options.
Hilton has several co-branded credit cards, and all come with an introductory bonus. If you have an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points, you can transfer Amex points to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio. Hilton also has several travel partners, like Lyft, where you can earn points on travel purchases.
The opening of reservations for the Waldorf Astoria Cancun is really exciting news for Hilton fans who want to visit Cancún this fall. Hilton has several properties in the area, but many of the best hotels are further away from the airport, while the Waldorf Astoria is just a few minutes away by car. If you’re considering a stay, you should start booking now, but make sure you have enough Hilton Honors points!
