How much are your Hyatt points worth? An analysis of 450,000 hotel redemption options across 1,800 properties found a median value of 1.55 cents per point.

Hyatt points are some of the most popular hotel points among points and miles travelers, and knowing roughly how much your points are worth can help you make the most of them. Here’s how we calculated the value of Hyatt points, and which hotel brands and destinations can offer the best value.

Methodology

Gondola tracks live pricing data for 450,000 redemption options across over 1,800 properties in the Hyatt portfolio. It records the lowest available points redemption, the lowest available cash rate, and whether the rate is refundable.

We used Gondola data to calculate the value of Hyatt points by comparing the lowest available cash rate with the lowest available points redemption rate. We limited our study to fully refundable rates because bookings made with your Hyatt points are usually fully refundable if you cancel at least 1 day before check-in.

Hot Tip:

You can set up a free Gondola account to track your points balances and see how much they’re worth, manage trips, and search for and book hotels.

What Are Hyatt Points Worth?

We found a median redemption value of 1.55 cents per point for Hyatt points.

We focused on the median, rather than the average, to prevent extremely high or low-value redemptions from skewing the results. The median is the midpoint of the dataset, so half of the data points fall at or below that value, and half fall at or above it.

You can use this median valuation to consider whether a Hyatt redemption offers good value.

Even though most of Hyatt’s brands have a typical redemption value higher than the median valuation, Hyatt’s large number of Mr & Mrs Smith properties brought the median down. Without Mrs & Mrs Smith properties, the median value of Hyatt points would shoot up to 1.85 cents per point.

You won’t always get the best redemption value at Miraval or Park Hyatt hotels, or the worst at Mr & Mrs Smith or Hyatt Ziva hotels. Redemption values vary by property, travel dates, cash rates, and award pricing, but these valuations can help you get an idea of where your points may go further.

Similarly, these top tourist destinations tend to offer a median redemption value above the portfolio-wide median of 1.55 cents per point.
