Update:

The following information has expired and is no longer available.

For business owners who frequently travel, like me, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is arguably the best rewards card on the market today.

The Amex Business Platinum card offers a laundry list of perks and benefits, including access to over 1,400 lounges worldwide and numerous statement credits that more than justify carrying the card. It also earns highly valuable American Express Membership Rewards, which have allowed me to fly in premium cabins on the best airlines in the world.

There is also a substantial annual fee. Still, the Amex Business Platinum card offers several statement credits to help offset that fee. One statement credit the card offers, an up to $400 Dell statement credit per calendar year, might just be its most valuable perk.

Here’s an in-depth look at why the Dell statement credit is quite possibly my favorite perk of the Amex Business Platinum card.

Amex Business Platinum Card Overview

The Amex Business Platinum card is an intriguing rewards card for business owners who are also frequent travelers. It provides high-end travel benefits (some requiring enrollment) such as comprehensive airport lounge access to over 1,400 lounges worldwidehotel elite status with 2 major hotel chains, rental car elite status with several agencies, and numerous purchase and travel insurances and protections.

The Amex Business Platinum card has the following welcome bonus:

  • Earn 150,000 points after spending $20,000 in eligible purchases within the first 3 months.

We value American Express Membership Rewards points at an astounding 2.2 cents apiece, the highest of any transferable points currency. This means 150,000 Amex Membership Rewards points are worth at least $3,300 when redeemed for travel.

However, as you’d expect, the Amex Business Platinum card also has a hefty $695 annual fee (rates & fees). To offset the annual fee, it also provides several statement credits (some requiring enrollment).

One of these statement credits is the Dell statement credit of up to $400, which covers more than half the card’s annual fee. Fortunately, Dell has a great selection of valuable items to choose from.

How the Amex Business Platinum Card’s Dell Credit Works

With the Dell statement credit, you can get up to $200 in statement credits from January to June and another up to $200 in statement credits from July to December. You must enroll for the statement credit to be posted.

The Dell statement credit is valid only on purchases made directly with Dell Technologies or at dell.com in the U.S. and U.S. territories. Dell Technologies must be the merchant of record for the purchase. The credit is not valid on online purchases shipped outside the U.S. or purchases from unauthorized resellers or online auctioneers. Statement credits can take 2 to 4 weeks to post.

Hot Tip:

You can use multiple payment methods on Dell orders so you can split your payment if you have more than 1 card with a statement credit.

Why the Amex Business Platinum Dell Credit Is So Valuable

The Amex Business Platinum card carries a significant annual fee, but it’s easily justified if you make full use of the various statement credits the card offers.

The Dell statement credit is one of the easiest to maximize, as Dell carries various electronics, including monitors, audio equipment, cameras and lenses, video games, smart watches, chargers, storage devices, and Dell computers and accessories.

I use many of these items daily, so taking full advantage of the Dell credit has been easy. In 2025, I used the first semiannual $200 credit to purchase a Microsoft Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, which has been one of my favorite purchases to date.

Last year, I picked up a 4K Dell UltraSharp webcam for my home office. This was a great addition to my setup as I frequently take video calls and have many work meetings.

Since I only use the statement credits for purchases I plan to make anyway, I consider this a massive perk of the Amex Business Platinum card. Fortunately, Dell has a fantastic selection of items to choose from.

Final Thoughts

The Amex Business Platinum card is a fantastic rewards card, and the high annual fee doesn’t seem so bad when I get up to $200 semiannually for U.S. purchases at Dell.

The Dell statement credit is my favorite of the Amex Business Platinum card’s credits, as I frequently shop for electronics from Dell. By maximizing the Dell statement credit (and nearly every other credit), I can more than justify carrying the Amex Business Platinum card in my wallet.
