The Wyndham Rewards program is planning some updates across its 3 redemption tiers, with some properties moving up, and others moving down, in pricing.

Here’s what we know so far — and what we don’t — so you can take advantage before these changes take effect on April 15, 2026.

Select Wyndham Hotels Moving Award Categories

For reference, the Wyndham Rewards program operates with 3 tiers in its award chart, with properties costing 7,500 points, 15,000 points, and 30,000 points, respectively.

Starting April 15th, 2026, a select portion of the properties in the Wyndham portfolio will be changing their award category. Here is the breakdown:

  • 88% of hotels will remain in their current tier
  • 8% of hotels will move to a lower tier
  • 4% of hotels will move to a higher tier

We’ve reached out to Wyndham for a list of the exact properties that are moving up or down a category, but one has not been provided as of writing. If we receive a response, this article will be updated with the full details.

Even without knowing the exact hotels moving categories, these changes don’t appear too drastic at first glance.

While no one wants to see hotels become more expensive for award stays, Wyndham says twice as many properties will actually become more affordable to book with points than those increasing in price.

So how can you take advantage of the changes here? If you book a future stay at the current award tier before the changes take effect on April 15, 2026, and the hotel later moves to a lower tier, Wyndham says the difference in points will be automatically refunded.

Similarly, if the hotel moves to a higher tier on April 15, the original booking price will be honored.

This means you can redeem Wyndham Rewards for upcoming stays with confidence. If the property you book later drops to a lower award tier, Wyndham says the difference in points will be refunded. And if the price goes up, you’ll have already locked in the lower rate.

Additionally, if you’re considering booking any Wyndham stays before the prices change, now is a great time to do so to stack your savings with the various Wyndham Member Month promotions, many of which include the ability to earn additional bonus points, receive a discount on paid stays, and more.

Final Thoughts

While Wyndham hasn’t revealed which properties will change categories, only about 4% are expected to increase in price. Booking before April 15 lets you either lock in the lower rate or receive a refund if the price drops.

If you’re considering a Wyndham stay, it may be worth booking before the April 15 deadline.
