Update:The Zurp Card is no longer available.
You’re probably wondering what a Zurp Card is. The newly-launched card is an interesting beast, with up to 8x points on several bonus categories (including rent and mortgage!), no annual fee, and no credit check to qualify.
Let’s take a look at this new credit card, and why you may want to pick it up.
What Is a Zurp Card?
Launched earlier this week, the Zurp card is an amalgamation of features “designed for Gen Z.”
It’s not a standard rewards card by any means. The Zurp card falls more in line with a secured credit card, where your credit limit is directly impacted by the amount of funds you keep in your account. However, with the opportunity to earn 5% APY on the balance in your Zurp account, this card almost acts as a high-yield savings account, too.
Here are some more of the key features of the Zurp card:
No credit check required
Reports to the credit bureaus
Earn up to a 5% APY on the balance in account
Earn rewards on all spending
No ATM withdrawal fees
No annual fee
Zurp Card Earning Rate
Even better, the card is highly rewarding for its users, with multipliers of up to 8x on spending.
8x points per $1 spent: Entertainment, gas, travel, food
1x points per $1 spent: Rent and mortgage
3x points per $1 spent: All other eligible purchases
You’ll have the ability to earn points on your rent — an arena that has thus far been limited to Bilt Rewards members. If you own your house, you can also earn points on your mortgage, which is a capability that’s not offered by Bilt.
Finally, you can receive up to 30,000 points with the current welcome offer. New applicants will earn 10,000 bonus points when they open an account, another 10,000 points when they make their first deposit of $100 or more into a Zurp Cash Account, and another 10,000 points for spending $1,000 within the first three months of account opening
Who Is This Card For?
Sure, there are a lot of fintech companies out there launching new cards with big promises. And there are a lot of existing credit cards that earn points that can be transferred to hotel and airline partners, while the Zurp card doesn’t offer this — for now.
But there’s absolutely still a market for people who should be using this card, and it involves a larger segment of the population than you’d think.
Obviously, those who are looking to build their credit aren’t going to find anything better than the Zurp card. These reward earnings are spectacular for any card that charges an annual fee, let alone without one.
However, a large majority of Americans should consider opting in to the Zurp sphere. Why? Because it has some downright cool, fun, and valuable rewards for redemption.
Take, for example, the ability to get yourself a free month of meals at Chick-Fil-A:
Or maybe you don’t want to eat Chick-Fil-A every day for a month. How about a Six Flags ticket?
Finally, it’s also possible to redeem your rewards for a variety of different gift cards, including options from Target, Amazon, and Sephora.
The redemption value will vary on the reward. For example, the $100 Amazon credit yields a poor value at just 0.13 cents per point. So while you may earn an outstanding 8x points on select bonus categories, the redemption value may not be as great.
The Zurp card has just launched, and it offers some really generous rewards and the ability to build your credit. However, it’s worth noting that you’ll need to maintain a high enough balance in your Zurp card to determine your credit limit.
Still, with unique features not offered by other rewards programs, the Zurp card may be compelling enough to carve its own new niche.
The information regarding the Zurp Card was independently collected by Upgraded Points and was not provided nor reviewed by the issuer.
