Greece is one of the world’s most politically important places of all time. Touted as the birthplace of democracy and the inventor of the Olympic Games, Greece has solidified its place as one of the world’s hottest tourist destinations.
And if you’re contemplating going to Greece, you’ll probably hear of Aegean Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Greece. Headquartered in Athens, this Star Alliance partner offers critical connection opportunities to the Mediterranean country.
Aegean Airlines was founded in 1987 under a different name, Aegean Aviation. And as time progressed, Aegean Airlines cemented itself as an essential regional airline. As a result, Aegean Airlines doesn’t operate any long-haul, wide-body aircraft.
Aegean Airlines’ loyalty program is known as Miles+Bonus, but it’s pronounced as “miles and bonus.” Miles+Bonus miles, also referred to as Aegean Airlines miles or Aegean miles, are part of a unique frequent flyer program with some fascinating redemption sweet spots.
Before we go into great detail about how you can maximize Miles+Bonus miles, let’s dig deep into the best ways you can earn lots of them!
Sign up for an Aegean Airlines Miles+Bonus Account
Before we dive deep into all the best ways to amass Aegean miles quickly, the first thing you need to do is create a Miles+Bonus account. If you don’t have a Miles+Bonus account, you won’t have anywhere to store your miles!
You can follow these steps to register with Miles+Bonus:
- Visit the Miles+Bonus registration page
- Fill out the online form to register for Miles+Bonus
- You will have 2 registration options: Miles+Bonus and Basic; choose Miles+Bonus if you want to earn and redeem miles
- You’ll receive a welcome email with your Miles+Bonus information that will contain your Miles+Bonus account number that you will use whenever you wish to earn miles
Hot Tip: Aegean Airlines offers 1,000 welcome miles when you create a Miles+Bonus account, so this is an excellent way to jumpstart your mileage earning!
Now that your Miles+Bonus account has been created, all you have to do is enter your Miles+Bonus account number when you’re booking online flight reservations on Aegean Airlines, United Airlines, and all other eligible partners!
Earn Aegean Miles With Credit Cards
Aegean Miles+Bonus isn’t 1:1 transfer partners with any major transferable currency. As a result, it won’t be as easy as earning United MileagePlus miles or earning Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Virgin Points, but we’ve still got plenty of ways to earn miles.
Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards
Aegean Miles+Bonus is a transfer partner with Marriott Bonvoy. You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to Miles+Bonus at a 3:1 ratio. This means that for every 3 Marriott Bonvoy points transferred, you will get 1 Aegean mile.
Also, you will receive a bonus of 5,000 Aegean miles for every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you transfer to Miles+Bonus. That means if you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to Miles+Bonus, you will earn 25,000 miles instead of 20,000 miles.
Transfers to Aegean Miles+Bonus will take around 3 business days to process.
Refer a Friend for Bonus Miles
Because Chase and American Express both issue Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards, it’s easy to earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy points without making any additional purchases, particularly by using referral programs.
Chase’s referral program functions a bit differently from American Express’. With Chase’s referral program, you must refer from a Marriott Bonvoy credit card.
That means that as long as you have either the Marriott Boundless card or the Marriott Bold card, you will earn a referral bonus if your friend is approved for either card — it doesn’t have to be the same card you have.
Hot Tip: Check out our guide on the best Chase Marriott Bonvoy credit cards to decide which card fits you best!
With American Express, the referral program is much more flexible. As long as you have a co-branded Marriott Bonvoy American Express card, you can send a referral link to your friend, and you will receive a referral bonus as long as your friend is approved for any Amex card!
Non-U.S.-Based Credit Cards
As we mentioned above, Aegean Airlines is, for all intents and purposes, Greece’s airline. So it makes a lot of sense that the opportunities to earn Aegean miles directly are for those located in that geographic area.
Aegean Airlines offers co-branded credit cards in 2 countries:
- Aegean Bonus Visa (Greece)
- Aegean Visa Cyprus (Cyprus)
If you’re a resident of Greece or Cyprus or have some other way of applying for these Aegean Airlines co-branded credit cards, you can directly earn Miles+Bonus miles very quickly with your ordinary spending!
Earn Miles Through Shopping
You can earn Aegean miles for your daily shopping activities. After all, if you’re going to spend the money anyway, why not use the handy Miles+Bonus shopping partners to get rewarded even more?

Our next category of purchases is travel purchases. And as you can probably tell, Aegean Miles+Bonus offers a diverse list of ways you can earn miles through travel.
So if you’re looking to earn bonus miles on your travel plans, whether it’s hotel bookings or plane tickets, we’ve got your covered. Let’s talk about earning Aegean miles through travel!
Airfare and Airline Purchases
The most straightforward way to earn Aegean Airlines miles is to fly on Aegean Airlines or Olympic Air. Image Credit: Markus Mainka via ShutterstockThe most straightforward way to earn Aegean Airlines miles is to fly on a qualifying Aegean Airlines plane ticket! And since Olympic Air is owned by Aegean Airlines, the earning structure is identical.
Your miles may take up to 60 hours after the flight is finished to be credited to your account. Also, all tickets booked in I, X, N, and R are ineligible for accruing miles.
Aegean Miles+Bonus sets out 2 separate mileage accrual schemes for flights on its own metal: 1 chart for domestic flights and 1 chart for international flights.
Here’s the domestic accrual chart:

The number of miles you’d earn will vary depending on which airline you fly on. The other factors are your fare class and your specific flight route. Check out this chart for earning Aegean miles on all Star Alliance airlines below:
