Hyatt House is an extended-stay line of hotels under the World of Hyatt umbrella.

With a recognizable global brand, Hyatt House offers comfort and familiarity to travelers looking for a no-frills option in both hot-spot destinations and more off-the-beaten-path ones.

In this guide, we’ll review the Hyatt House hotels that offer the best value for World of Hyatt points. But before we get there, let’s look at what you need to know about Hyatt House and what you can expect at some of the brand’s best hotels worldwide.

Everything You Need To Know About Hyatt House

Hyatt House hotels are known as select-service or extended-stay hotels. They are often found in urban, airport, college campus, and roadside destinations.

Many Hyatt House hotels offer mid-scale or borderline upscale accommodations. These hotels are known for their flexible meeting spaces, apartment-style kitchens, laundry facilities, fitness centers, and bars. All Hyatt House locations in the Americas offer free breakfast, but locations in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia offer varied offerings.

Today, there are more than 130 Hyatt House hotels worldwide, though most are in the U.S.

While you won’t find fancy amenities at more luxury brands such as Park Hyatt or Grand Hyatt, Hyatt House hotels provide comfortable accommodations in prime locations at a price that won’t break the bank, whether you pay in cash or use World of Hyatt points.

World of Hyatt Credit Cards

Like other Hyatt brands, Hyatt House participates in the World of Hyatt loyalty program. That means you can earn and redeem points at any Hyatt House hotel worldwide.

Hyatt doesn’t offer as many options for earning points as rivals Marriott and Hilton. However, the hotel chain does offer 2 co-branded credit cards: a personal card and a business credit card. Both offer sizable welcome bonuses, bonus earnings on Hyatt stays, and entry-level Discoverist status.

World of Hyatt

Free Night Certificate

There’s another reason why we love Hyatt House hotels, especially for those traveling on a budget. Many of the hotels on this list are perfect options for using a Category 1-4 certificate, which works as a free night certificate for Hyatt properties up to Category 4. Hyatt is one of the last hotel chains to utilize an award chart, and many Hyatt House properties fall on the lower end of that chart.

One of the easiest ways to earn a Category 1-4 certificate is by participating in the Brand Explorer promotion. You can also earn a certificate by staying 30 qualifying nights or earning 50,000 base points in a calendar year. Cardholders of The World of Hyatt Credit Card earn a certificate each year they hold the card and can earn an additional free night by spending $15,000 in a calendar year.

Bottom Line:

Hyatt also offers Category 1-7 certificates, which operate similarly to Category 1-4 certificates in that they can be used on properties up to Category 7. You can earn these through Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards program when you stay 60 nights, earn 100,000 points, or stay 100 nights in a calendar year. However, these coveted certificates should only be used for the most luxe Hyatt hotels in the world.

The 9 Best Hyatt House Redemptions

As you will see below, Hyatt House offers some pretty great redemptions, especially in tourist destinations like New York, Florida, and the U.K. Hyatt House properties are usually reasonably priced, so you won’t break the bank (or your points balance) when staying at them.

At Upgraded Points, we value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents per point, which is among the highest hotel points rates. However, with several hotels on our list, you’ll likely get far more than 1.5 cents per point.

1. Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya (Japan)

Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya

The first hotel on our list is the Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya — and for good reason. The hotel is in a prime location for travelers who want to experience all Tokyo has to offer. It is near the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the Roppongi, Shinjuku, and Ginza neighborhoods.

The first Hyatt House property in Tokyo, Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya boasts 126 apartment-style rooms, including 18 suites. Each room features a kitchen, washer and dryer, microwave oven, and refrigerator. In addition to the rooms, guests can access a fitness center, an indoor pool, a garden terrace, and a multi-function room.

While many Hyatt House properties feature bars or grab-and-go stations, Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya’s MOSS CROSS TOKYO is a high-end Japanese restaurant boasting farm-to-table eats, craft cocktails, and more.

Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya is perhaps one of the most expensive Hyatt House properties out there with cash. You can expect to pay more than $500 per night for dates this fall or winter (though you may be able to find some nights for around $350 nightly).

If you want to use World of Hyatt points, rates at this Category 4 property start at 12,000 points (off-peak) and go up to 18,000 points per night on peak nights. You can also redeem a Category 1-4 certificate at this property.

2. Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf (U.S.)

Hyatt House Washington DC The Wharf

Washington, D.C., has no shortage of high-end Hyatt-branded properties, from the Park Hyatt Washington to the Thompson Washington D.C., all offering excellent value for travelers visiting the area.

However, a hotel that has floated under the radar isn’t a Park Hyatt or Hyatt Regency — it’s a Hyatt House. The first Hyatt House to open in the nation’s capital, Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf offers high-end accommodations right in D.C.

The hotel offers 237 guest rooms and suites, ranging from 270 square feet to more than 750 square feet. Many rooms offer unobstructed views of the Potomac River or the Wharf, and several of the larger suites include fully equipped kitchens and sofa beds.

Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, a rooftop pool, and an outdoor pool with grills.

This Hyatt House isn’t cheap, owing to its prime location along the D.C. Wharf, a popular neighborhood for dining and entertainment. While rates can hover around $250 nightly, it’s not unheard of for this hotel to start at more than $450 per night. If you find cash rates on the higher end, you’re best off using World of Hyatt points to cover the cost.

This hotel has consistently increased in category over the years and now sits at Category 5. Unfortunately, you can’t use a Category 1-4 certificate to stay here, but it’s still one of the best Hyatt hotels you’ll find in the District of Columbia. Award nights start at 17,000 points, up to 23,000 points nightly.

3. Hyatt House London Stratford (U.K.)

Hyatt House London Stratford

Hyatt House London Stratford is located in the Westfield Stratford City shopping center in East London. The hotel offers rooms (which it calls studios) and suites that are much larger than the average European hotel room. Each of the 125 rooms is adorned with full kitchens and offers views of either Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or the City of London.

Amenities include a restaurant with a bar and terrace, a fitness center, meeting and event space, and room service, which is a welcome perk for a budget hotel chain.

The hotel is close to shopping, dining, and sporting facilities and is roughly 6 miles from London City Airport (LCY) and the St. Pancras International rail station.

Hyatt House London Stratford is priced reasonably for a hotel in London, with rates this fall averaging around $350 per night. As a Category 3 property, award nights start at just 9,000 points per night, up to 15,000 points per night. If you don’t have enough points to cover your stay, you can redeem a Category 1-4 certificate at this property.

4. Hyatt House Virginia Beach/Oceanfront (U.S.)

Hyatt House Virginia Beach Oceanfront King Studio with Kitchen

The Hyatt House Virginia Beach/Oceanfront opened for guests back in the spring of 2017.

However, it has already established itself as one of the better hotel options in this coastal Virginia city. The 156-room hotel is just steps from the beach, and each room offers city or ocean views with a private balcony. The largest suite at the hotel offers a whopping 742 square feet of living space and features a full kitchen, a separate living area with a sleeper sofa, and a dining area.

Guests are treated to amenities like a market, a bar, an event space, a fitness center, a restaurant steps away from the beach, and an indoor pool.

Rooms at Hyatt House Virginia Beach/Oceanfront average around $130 per night, though there are nights this fall that top nearly $800 per night. You should consider using your World of Hyatt points if you’re staying on one of those expensive nights (or any night, generally). This Category 5 hotel starts at 17,000 World of Hyatt points per night on off-peak nights and up to 23,000 points nightly on peak nights.

5. Hyatt House New York / Chelsea (U.S.)

Hyatt House New York Chelsea

Frequent visitors to New York know that the city has no shortage of Hyatt hotels, including some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. That means mid-tier hotels like Hyatt House New York / Chelsea can fly under the radar, but this hotel offers a prime experience at a bargain price, especially when redeeming World of Hyatt points.

Business and leisure travelers alike will appreciate the hotel’s central location near attractions such as Hudson Yards, Madison Square Garden, the High Line, the Flatiron Building, and Moynihan Train Hall.

Rooms are stylishly adorned in dark finishes, with some suites offering stainless steel kitchenettes. A few rooms even offer an in-unit washer and dryer, which most New Yorkers don’t even have!

Like many Hyatt House hotels, the property offers a bar, a 24/7 market, a fitness center, a rooftop, and a business center. Notably, it doesn’t have a pool.

Given its prime location in the heart of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, the hotel’s rates average around $300 per night. Of the hotels on this list, this one offers the most consistent value using World of Hyatt points, given its Category 5 ranking. Award nights start at 17,000 World of Hyatt points, up to 23,000 points per night.

6. Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue (U.S.)

Hyatt House Naples 5th Avenue

The Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue feels more like a resort than a standard run-of-the-mill Hyatt House.

Rooms and suites are designed with a beach aesthetic in mind, with neutral undertones and pops of color in the artwork and pillows. They offer views of the neighborhood or river, and room types range from king beds to a 2-bedroom suite.

The hotel offers many of the standard amenities for a Hyatt House: a fitness center, a market, complimentary breakfast, an on-site restaurant, and a spacious outdoor pool. Nearby, you’ll be close to shopping on 5th Avenue, plus other attractions like the Naples Pier, the Naples Zoo, dining, and more.

Cash rates here will average around $250 per night later this year. As a Category 5 hotel, you’ll find award nights starting at 17,000 points per night and up to 23,000 points per night.

7. Hyatt House Tampa Downtown (U.S.)

Hyatt House Tampa Downtown

Another Florida property on the list, Hyatt House Tampa Downtown, is one of the most chic Hyatt House properties we’ve come across. The 115-room hotel, connected to the Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown, features a rooftop pool and terrace, a fitness center, 3,600 square feet of meeting and event space, complimentary breakfast, and an on-site restaurant.

Hyatt House Tampa Downtown is located near the Tampa Convention Center, shopping, and dining in Tampa’s city center. Rooms range from standard king and queen beds to full suites, which include a kitchen, a sofa, and a workstation.

Prices at the Hyatt House Tampa Downtown average around $200 per night for dates this fall and winter. However, some dates can be as high as $500 nightly. Like many of the hotels on the list, this property is a Category 5 hotel. That means you’ll pay between 17,000 and 23,000 points per night, depending on whether you stay during a peak, off-peak, or standard night.

8. Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara (Malaysia)

Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont Kiara pool

One of the few international Hyatt House properties on the list, the Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur earns its spot at number 9 due to perks such as its spacious rooms, high-end dining, and gorgeous rooftop infinity pool.

Keeping to the Hyatt House brand signature, the property’s suites have fully equipped kitchens, dishwashers, a divided living and sleeping area, and a sofa bed. Guests can dine at the ground-floor bar or gallery kitchen or enjoy a drink at the swanky Ten37 Sky Bar, the tallest rooftop bar in the Mont Kiara neighborhood. Other amenities include a fitness center, a business center, meeting facilities, and laundry services.

As the cheapest hotel on the list, you’ll find great deals, whether paying cash or using World of Hyatt points. Cash prices at the Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur rarely top $100 per night, which makes it an excellent option for a mattress run if you’re in the region. A Category 1 hotel, rates start at just 3,500 points per night, up to 6,500 points per night for a standard room.

9. Hyatt House Chicago / West Loop-Fulton Market (U.S.)

Hyatt House Chicago West Loop

Our last Hyatt House property on the list is the Hyatt House Chicago / West Loop-Fulton Market. Located near Restaurant Row, this hotel is in a prime location for guests eager to explore Chicago’s bustling food scene. The 200-room, 14-story hotel offers amenities such as a large rooftop pool, spacious gym, and business center.

The rooms are functional but spacious, with minifridges and microwaves in guest rooms and larger fridges, stovetops, and dishwashers in suites.

Rates average around $350 per night, though prices can top as much as $500 nightly — which isn’t cheap for a Hyatt House hotel. Luckily, this hotel is a Category 4 property, meaning you’ll pay between 12,000 and 18,000 points per night to stay here. You can also redeem a Category 1-4 certificate at this property.

Hot Tip:

World of Hyatt points aren’t the easiest points to earn. But even if you don’t have a co-branded credit card, you have several options for earning points with the program. Both Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Rewards are World of Hyatt transfer partners, meaning you can transfer points to the program at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt House properties can offer incredible redemption value even for a non-luxury brand. Some Hyatt House properties provide high-quality amenities — particularly for extended-stay travelers — like a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and complimentary breakfast. We hope this guide was helpful as you book your next trip to a Hyatt House property!
