Conrad Hotels is my favorite brand within the Hilton Honors portfolio. After several positive experiences in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Nashville, I was eager to see whether I’d experience the same amount of luxury on a recent work trip to the nation’s capital.

The hotel definitely meets the brand’s signature standards, from sleek, contemporary design to full housekeeping and turndown service. I spent 2 nights at the Conrad Washington, DC, in November 2025 and left wishing I could stay longer. Here’s a recap of my recent experience.

1. Central, Walkable Location

The Conrad Washington, DC, is in the posh CityCenter district in the heart of the action. CityCenter is a newer development featuring many luxury retailers, and conveniently, my personal favorite: a massive Tatte Bakery, perfect for morning pastry and coffee runs.

It’s also super close to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). I flew in and out of DCA, and even with traffic, the commute was only 10 minutes, which I greatly appreciated on a quick in-and-out trip.

The area is also well connected to buses and multiple Metro lines. Although I didn’t end up taking any public transportation, the location made getting around effortless.

The National Mall and the White House were within a 15-minute walk, and the pleasant weather made walking 45 minutes to Georgetown (and back) a great way to explore the city at my own pace.

When you arrive, you’ll take the elevators on the right to reach the main lobby, then use a second set of elevators inside the hotel to access the majority of the guest rooms.

2. Book With Hilton Points, Certificates, or via AmexTravel.com

During my mid-November stay, base rooms at the Conrad Washington, DC, were priced around $400 per night. That said, I noticed a generous (and consistent) amount of standard award availability over the next 11 months when redeeming Hilton Honors points.

Standard award nights cost 85,000 points per night for either a Deluxe 1 King or 2 Queen guest room. Hilton Honors Silver elite members and above receive a fifth consecutive night free, allowing you to book 5 nights for the cost of 4 when using points.

You can also apply free night certificates from eligible Hilton Honors American Express cards, which are valid for any standard award night, regardless of the actual points cost.

However, I prefer booking through the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts program, available to those with the Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

Fine Hotels + Resorts is my preferred way to book. Image Credit: AmexTravel.com

The Conrad Washington, DC, can be booked through AmexTravel.com, as it’s a participating Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) property. FHR bookings come with valuable perks that instantly elevate the stay, including complimentary breakfast for 2, a $100 property credit, and a space-available room upgrade.

I booked a Sakura Club 1 King room, which gave me access to a “premium club lounge.” Club-level rooms typically cost about $100 to $200 more per night than standard rooms, but the extra cost can be well worth it if you take full advantage of the Sakura Club perks — most notably, complimentary breakfast and dinner for registered guests.

If you booked a standard room, though, keep an eye on your email as your stay approaches. The Conrad tends to offer discounted upgrades to club-level rooms depending on availability.

Cardholders also earn 5x Membership Rewards points on prepaid hotel bookings made through AmexTravel.com with either eligible card. In addition, each card offers up to $300 in semi-annual credits for prepaid FHR bookings (or The Hotel Collection properties, which require a 2-night minimum stay).

Hot Tip:

Yet another reason I love booking through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts? I still earn Hilton Honors points on my stay — something that isn’t always guaranteed with third-party bookings. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I also receive a 100% bonus on points earned for each stay.

3. Guest Room up to Conrad Brand Standards

The Conrad Washington, DC, features 360 guest rooms, each starting at approximately 400 square feet.

Conrad Washington DC Hallways
Quiet hallways.

What made the room feel incredibly spacious was the floor-to-ceiling windows, which brought in a ton of natural light and offered great views of the city.

Conrad Washington DC Table
The room felt much larger than 400 square feet.

One of my favorite aspects of staying at any Conrad Hotel is the bathroom, which features white marble finishes and soft lighting. It also had an oversized rainfall shower, a separate toilet enclosure, and double sinks with generous counter space.

Conrad Washington DC Bathroom
Bathroom.

Opposite the bathroom was a full wall of enclosed closet space where I found Conrad’s signature bathrobe and slippers, as well as ample hangers and plenty of room to tuck away a suitcase and shoes.

Conrad Washington DC Robe
Huge closet space.

The room was a single, open layout that balanced both function and comfort.

Conrad Washington DC Guest Room
1 King Bed guest room with Sakura Club access.

The king bed was framed by 2 nightstands and thoughtfully stocked with sleep-focused amenities, including lavender pillow spray, a silk eye mask, and plenty of easily accessible charging outlets.

Conrad Washington DC Sleep Amenities
Thankfully, I didn’t need the earplugs.

Closer to the window, the room featured a spacious desk alongside a comfortable sitting area with an additional table, ideal for working, watching TV, or relaxing.

Conrad Washington DC Sitting Area
A small comfy couch.

The minibar was discreetly tucked into the corner and included a Nespresso machine and hot water kettle, perfect for a late-night cup of tea.

Conrad Washington DC Mini Bar
All the essentials.

True to the Conrad brand, the guest room offered all the amenities I’ve come to expect.

Conrad Washington DC TV
The large mirror also helped make the space feel larger.

With nightly housekeeping and turndown service, the stay felt inviting and luxurious.

4. Breakfast To Get Excited For

Estuary is the hotel’s main restaurant and bar, and Summit is the rooftop bar. Summit is open seasonally and was closed during my November visit. Room service was also available through Estuary for dining in.

Conrad Washington DC Estuary
Restaurant lobby.

While I didn’t have time to try Estuary for lunch or dinner, I made full use of the complimentary breakfast both mornings. The restaurant got quite busy during weekend brunch hours, so securing a reservation was a smart way to avoid long waits.

Conrad Washington DC Estuary Bar
Estuary bar.

Both the weekend breakfast and brunch menus were excellent, with a strong focus on health-forward, locally sourced dishes. My order for both breakfasts was the Estuary omelet, filled with generous chunks of Chesapeake crab.

Conrad Washington DC Estuary Breakfast
I highly recommend the Estuary omelet.

Prices are in line with what you’d expect from a hotel of this caliber, with entrées averaging around $30.

5. Sakura Club Is in a League of Its Own

Most Conrad Hotels do not have their own club lounge, and the few that do are primarily international properties. In fact, the Conrad Washington, DC, was the first one I’ve ever visited that had one.

However, the Sakura Club is designated as a premium club, not an executive lounge, so Diamond members do not automatically receive access. Typically, you’ll need to book a club-level room to access it. However, starting in 2026, Hilton Honors will expand complimentary premium club access to its new top-tier Diamond Reserve members.

Conrad Washington DC Sakura Club
Complimentary breakfast and dinner were available in the lounge.

For me, a club lounge is what truly elevates a hotel stay, making it feel extra luxurious.

Conrad Washington DC Sakura Club Seating
Seats by the cozy fireplace.

I booked a Sakura Club-level room, but depending on availability, you may be able to purchase a cash upgrade in the days leading up to your stay.

For me, the added cost justified the experience. The Sakura Club is on the 10th floor, which is also where my room was. It’s open all day for guests and staffed for most of the day by Sakura Club Ambassadors.

Conrad Washington DC Sakura Club Fridge
I loved the variety of snacks and drinks.

The club offers complimentary breakfast and dinner, along with an impressive selection of premium snacks and drinks available for grab-and-go from the fridge.

Conrad Washington DC Room View
Nice views of the D.C. area.

The lounge also features ample seating and offers sweeping views of Washington, D.C., making it an ideal spot to unwind or get some work done.

6. City-Style Hotel With City-Style Amenities

The Conrad Washington, DC, is very much a city hotel. In other words, you won’t find resort-style amenities with so much of the city to explore just outside the doors. For example, there’s no traditional spa or pool.

That said, the hotel has just introduced a modern alternative to a spa: an Aescape AI massage room. It debuted just a week after my stay, so I didn’t have the chance to try it, but guests can now book 15- to 60-minute massage sessions performed entirely by a robotic system in the third-floor wellness lounge, which is open 24/7.

While I can’t speak to the quality of the massage yet, I’m intrigued and eager to try it on a future visit. It feels like an interesting middle ground — more elevated than a standard massage chair, but less involved than a traditional hands-on treatment.

The gym is located down a hallway near the front desk and is well-equipped for a solid workout, featuring rowing machines, cardio equipment, and a full selection of weights.

Conrad Washington DC Gym
Bright and open gym.

As expected for a hotel of this caliber, there are multiple meeting spaces and a dedicated guest help desk.

Various meeting spaces.

Final Thoughts

The Conrad Washington, DC, is easily a new favorite of mine and is a lovely home base for exploring the nation’s capital. It had everything I wanted in a city hotel — great food with local highlights, a spacious room, thoughtful service, and even a club lounge. As a huge bonus, it’s an excellent property in the Hilton Honors portfolio for earning and redeeming points within the U.S.
