Ever since having my son, my travel style has shifted. I used to gravitate toward boutique hotels and adventurous, off-the-radar getaways. Now? I deeply appreciate a great all-inclusive resort.

I’ve realized the key to a successful vacation is making sure everyone is happy. My son loves spaghetti and ice cream at the buffet, as well as kids’ club activities. My husband craves a big gym with fitness classes. And I’m perfectly content with a good book by a beautiful pool or beach — ideally with no one asking me for snacks.

After dozens of all-inclusive stays around the world, one thing has become clear: Iberostar resorts, part of the IHG portfolio, consistently deliver some of the best family-friendly beachfront experiences I’ve had. Consistency matters when I’m booking an all-inclusive. After several Iberostar stays across multiple countries, I know I’ll feel safe, relaxed, and confident that my vacation will go smoothly.

Here are some of my favorite Iberostar properties, along with how I book them for maximum value using either cash or IHG One Rewards points.

How To Book IHG’s All-Inclusive Iberostar Properties

In 2022 and 2023, IHG fully integrated its partnership with Iberostar, allowing guests to earn and use IHG One Rewards points for stays and benefit from perks.

Most, if not all, Iberostar properties are all-inclusive (or offer half-board or all-inclusive options). Many also feature Star Camp, Iberostar’s kids club program, along with daily activities for all ages.

When evaluating whether to book with cash or points, I consider what’s included. Meals, drinks, entertainment, childcare, and activities can add up quickly at non-all-inclusive resorts. When I factor in those costs, Iberostar rates (whether in points or cash) often feel extremely reasonable.

Why I Use the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card

I maximize stays with my IHG Premier card, which is offering an elevated welcome offer for a limited time. Through March 18, 2026, eligible new applicants can earn 175,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

The card offers automatic Platinum Elite status, which has almost always afforded me a room upgrade at Iberostar properties. That benefit alone helps justify the $99 annual fee. It also includes:

If I pay in cash, I earn 26 points per $1 on the rate when I charge the stay to my card. And when redeeming IHG One Rewards points, I get the fourth night free on every award stay, which can significantly reduce the effective cost of longer vacations.

My Favorite All-Inclusive Iberostar Properties

Some of the best family vacations I’ve taken have been at IHG’s Iberostar properties. Here are my favorites:

1. Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites — Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The first Iberostar hotel I ever stayed in was the Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites in Punta Cana, in the summer of 2024, and it’s the resort that made me fall in love with this brand.

I brought my in-laws on their first trip to the Dominican Republic, and I needed a resort that could satisfy a 3-year-old, 2 tired parents, and 2 adults over 75.

This property delivered.

The grounds are vibrant and tropical, with ponds filled with flamingos, turtles, and fish, all leading to the breezy sands of Bavaro Beach. Everyone in our group was wowed by the resort’s scenery and overall relaxing ambience, making it easy to switch to vacation mode.

I loved the variety of restaurants, especially the inviting coffee shop, where I grabbed a daily iced latte. My son enjoyed the play area in the Star Camp, the pool activities, and the ice cream shop. My husband attended boot camp each morning, and my in-laws enjoyed lazy tropical walks and the evening cultural shows.

Rates at the Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites start at $160 or 80,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.

2. Iberostar Waves Pinos Park — Mallorca, Spain

I only spent 4 nights at the Iberostar Pinos Park, but I could have stayed forever.

I booked the all-inclusive package at this resort, though half-board and breakfast-only rates were also available. Our suite had a small kitchenette, making half-board a practical option, with nearby grocery stores.

Our second-floor suite overlooked the pool and the Mediterranean Sea. Although this property had just a single main restaurant, the buffet was delicious, offering a variety of Spanish and international dishes, including paella, fresh seafood, and daily roasts.

Several nearby coves and beaches were within walking distance. And the hotel offered tons of activities for children, including pool parties, daily blow-up castles, and slides for kids to jump on and play. The kids’ pool was also adorable, with small kid-size lounge chairs.

Beyond the pool, there was a playground complete with a small, child-friendly zip line (which I practically had to drag my son away from each day).

Rates at the Iberostar Pinos Park start at $224 or 107,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.

3. Iberostar Waves Quetzal — Playa del Carmen, Mexico

At Iberostar Waves Quetzal, walking from my tropical-view room to the beach felt like trekking through the Yucatán jungle — wooden bridges, lush greenery, iguanas, and even monkeys.

Despite its natural setting, the resort still offers all the classic all-inclusive amenities, including an adults-only pool with swim-up bar seating.

Quetzal shares amenities with its sister property, Tucán, but maintains a slightly more intimate feel than some of the area’s larger all-inclusive properties.

My son loved baking cookies at the Star Camp, and we still laugh about his attempt at the water obstacle course in the main pool. We all enjoyed staying up late to watch the beach fire show and other Mexican-inspired evening entertainment.

The food exceeded expectations. I still dream about the poached eggs in salsa verde and chiliquiles. My son still remembers the “dragon cake” — a raspberry tiramisu topped with strawberries, chocolate, and dragon fruit.

Rates at the Iberostar Waves Quetzal start at $228 or 78,000 IHG Rewards points per night.

Note: This property is scheduled to close for renovations from May 15, 2026, through November 30, 2026.

Hot Tip:

Rates for Iberostar hotels in tropical destinations like Mexico or the Dominican Republic tend to be lower in the rainy season (June through November). In Europe, rates are higher in the summer months — and some resorts may close seasonally.

4. Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi — Montenegro

Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi sits above the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

I’d seen photos of the hotel before my stay, but I was immediately captivated by its beauty and surroundings: the pebbly beach rolling into the emerald waters, glittering in the sunlight, with pine trees rising up behind.

My room was simple but comfortable, with stunning views. The terrain is hilly (expect a bit of a workout walking between the beach and restaurant), but the rooftop bar is worth the climb.

I unexpectedly loved the rocky beach. The pebbles were small and smooth enough that they didn’t hurt my feet (though water shoes aren’t a bad idea), and I loved not being all covered in sand all day. Afternoon snacks by the water — ice cream, fresh watermelon, and coffee — became part of my daily ritual.

Rates at the Iberostar Herceg Novi start at $250 or 78,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.

5. Iberostar Waves Paraíso Beach — Cancún, Mexico

One of the largest all-inclusive properties I’ve stayed at, Iberostar Waves Paraíso Beach offers access to multiple sister properties and a wide range of amenities.

While the size may seem overwhelming, it comes with some really cool perks: a shopping center (Iberostar Centro Comercial), tram transportation around the resort, and endless dining options.

Helpful tips for navigating the property:

  • Spend time at shaded pools in summer and at the beach in winter
  • Use the Iberostar app to make dinner reservations and track the tram service
  • Take photos of the Star Camp schedule and message staff via WhatsApp if you have any questions
  • Explore hidden gems like the giant chess set and beachfront picnic tables

I spent 5 nights at this resort in early January and reluctantly headed back home to winter weather afterward. I won’t be forgetting this resort’s seaweed-free sands and calm, clear waters anytime soon.

Rates at the Iberostar Waves Paraíso Beach start at $204 or 54,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.

Iberostar Resorts Next on My List

It’s safe to say I’m a big fan of IHG’s all-inclusive properties, most of which are Iberostar (though I’m very open to others). I’m already eyeing the Iberostar Waves Founty Beach in Agadir, Morocco, and the Iberostar Waves Royal Andalus in southern Spain. I’m also hoping more Greek Islands properties eventually join the program.

It’s worth noting that some Iberostar resorts aren’t part of IHG, meaning you can’t earn or redeem IHG One Rewards there.

Hot Tip:

If you’re in the market for a no-annual-fee card that earns IHG One Rewards points, check out the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card, which currently has a solid welcome offer: Earn up to 120k bonus points. Earn 90,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. Plus, up to 30,000 bonus points by earning an additional 3x on purchases, except on IHG Hotels & Resorts, in the first 6 months on up to $10,000 spent.

Final Thoughts

I’ve consistently found IHG’s all-inclusive Iberostar resorts to offer excellent value, whether paying cash and earning points or redeeming points outright. With meals, snacks, and lots of activities and entertainment included, you’re almost always coming out on top.

Beyond value, Iberostar resorts are consistent, offering clean rooms, reliable food quality, engaging kid programs, and a vacation experience every member of my family genuinely enjoys.
