Get Alaska MVP Status Through December 31, 2026

Alaska Airlines’ new promotion offers the opportunity to earn MVP elite status after completing a round-trip flight with Alaska or Hawaiian Airlines between the continental U.S. and Sydney or Auckland.

Here’s a look at the requirements:

  • Fly by December 31, 2025.
  • Must book at AlaskaAir.com or HawaiianAirlines.com.
  • Mileage Plan members earn MVP elite status after flying round-trip from the continental United States to Auckland (AKL) or Sydney (SYD).
  • Flights must originate and end in the same city within the United States.
  • The offer excludes flights to and from Hawaii.
  • If you already have MVP status or higher, you will not receive a higher status through the promotion.
  • If you earn MVP status through this promotion, you will not receive any additional elite qualifying miles.

Those who complete travel by December 31, 2025, will earn Alaska Airlines MVP status through December 31, 2026. Make sure to provide your Mileage Plan number when booking. You can find the complete set of terms and conditions here. Registration is not required.

There are some other details to be aware of before you book. Award tickets and Saver Fares are not eligible for this promotion. Flights must be operated by Alaska, Hawaiian, Horizon or SkyWest — flights operated by other codeshare partners are not eligible for the offer.

Let’s take a look at your options. You’ll have the easiest luck searching for flights originating on the West Coast. For instance, we’re seeing round-trip economy flights from Portland (PDX) to Sydney for around $1,170.

You may find cheaper flights on Alaska partners such as American Airlines or Fiji Airways, but these airlines are not eligible for the offer, so if you’re after Alaska elite status, you’ll want to pick the more expensive option in this case.

About Alaska MVP Status

Alaska MVP status is the lowest elite tier for the program. It is typically earned with at least 20,000 elite qualifying miles. But through this promo, you can earn MVP status simply by taking a round-trip flight to Auckland or Sydney from the continental U.S.

Alaska MVP status has some solid benefits, such as a 25% bonus miles on all flights, Oneworld Ruby status benefits, and priority check-in and boarding.

Final Thoughts

Alaska Airlines is offering MVP status after taking just 1 round-trip flight from the continental U.S. to Auckland or Sydney. This is a pretty cool offer, especially if you don’t fly Alaska often but want to try the airline out.

Luckily, you have until the end of the year to take advantage of the promo, and once you do, you’ll enjoy MVP status through the end of 2026!
