American Airlines Adds Flights for College Football Playoff Games

The quarterfinal matches are set, and American Airlines knows fans are making plans to see their favorite teams in this year’s College Football Playoff games.

Matches will be held across December 31 and January 1 in 4 cities, and AA wants to help you get to the game. Here’s a look at the expanded flight opportunities to help you reach this year’s games.

American Airlines Flights for College Football Playoff Games

The quarterfinals this year will feature Ohio State, the defending national champions who are hoping for a repeat, against Miami; Texas Tech against Oregon; Indiana against Alabama; and Georgia against Ole Miss.

Here are the boosted flight schedules American Airlines is offering to help fans reach these matchups, which take place on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026.

Arlington, Texas: Ohio State vs. Miami

Getting to this game will require fans to fly into Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).

Ohio State fans have 7 different flights from Columbus, Ohio (CMH) to DFW on December 30, 2025. Then, fans will have 6 flights from DFW back to CMH on January 1.

Miami fans have 12 flights to choose from between Miami (MIA) and DFW on December 30. They’ll have 10 flight options with AA from DFW back to MIA on January 1.

Hot Tip:

We expect to see both Delta and United announce their own offerings in support of the college football playoffs, given their growing popularity. Keep an eye out for those announcements.

Miami, Florida: Texas Tech vs. Oregon

To attend this game, fans will need to fly into Miami (MIA).

Texas Tech fans will find special flights from Lubbock, Texas (LBB) to MIA on December 30 and 31, with return flights from MIA to LBB on January 2 and 3.

Oregon fans can catch flights to MIA from both Eugene, Oregon (EUG) and Portland, Oregon (PDX) on December 31. They can choose return flights from MIA to EUG and PDX on January 2.

Pasadena, California: Indiana vs. Alabama

Fans can use extra AA flights to Los Angeles (LAX) to support this game.

Indiana fans can choose from 2 daily flights between Indianapolis (IND) and LAX on December 28, 29, and 31. AA will offer 3 flights from LAX to IND on January 2, plus 2 flights running LAX-IND on January 3.

Alabama fans will find special flights from Birmingham, Alabama (BHM) to LAX on December 31. The return flight will operate on January 2.

New Orleans, Louisiana: Georgia vs. Ole Miss

AA isn’t boosting any flights to New Orleans (MSY) for Ole Miss fans, as many fans may choose to drive.

Georgia fans can choose from 2 special flights from Atlanta (ATL) to MSY on December 31, plus 1 return flight on January 2.

Hot Tip:

You don’t necessarily need to earn American Airlines elite status to enjoy extra perks on AA flights. Simply holding an American Airlines credit card can provide many of these benefits, including early boarding, complimentary checked bags, and more.

Final Thoughts

Fans planning to attend the college football quarterfinals this year will find a combination of expanded flight frequencies and special flights with American Airlines. These will help fans reach game locations, all of which are held at neutral sites.
