The Platinum Card® from American Express is one of the most popular premium cards around, and for good reason. Upon enrollment, you can score high-end travel benefits like airport lounge access, complimentary hotel and rental car elite status, and numerous statement credits that help offset its $895 annual fee (rates & fees). However, you might not know that there are multiple variations of the card that are co-issued by different banks.

American Express partners with Morgan Stanley and Charles Schwab to offer their customers different variants of the Amex Platinum card. Following this month’s revamp of the card, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley has rolled out a higher 125,000-point welcome offer.

Let’s look at this increased welcome offer and who is eligible to earn it.

Amex Platinum Card for Morgan Stanley: New Welcome Offer

The Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley now offers 125,000 bonus points after spending $8,000 in the first 6 months to new cardholders, up from the standard bonus offer of 80,000 points. This limited-time welcome offer is available through November 12, 2025.

This welcome offer is worth $2,750 based on our Membership Rewards valuation of 2.2 cents per point. The Membership Rewards points earned with the Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley work the same as points earned with a standard Amex Platinum card. This means you can transfer them to Air Canada Aeroplan, Delta SkyMiles, and other Membership Rewards transfer partners.

To open the Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley, you must have an eligible Morgan Stanley brokerage account. Further, those who have had the Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley, the American Express Platinum Card® for Schwab, or the standard Amex Platinum card in the past may not be eligible for this welcome offer.

Amex Platinum Card For Morgan Stanley Benefits

The Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley — and all other Amex Platinum card variants — were just refreshed with new credits and perks. Some new benefits include a higher $600 annual prepaid hotel credit, $300 in annual luluemon credits, and elite status with Leading Hotels of the World, among others. Enrollment required for some benefits.

At the same time, all variants of the Amex Platinum card now have a higher annual fee of $895.

The card also offers extensive travel and lifestyle benefits, including airport lounge accesselite status with various hotelstravel protections, and access to American Express’ International Airline Program and Fine Hotels & Resorts program.

Plus, the card earns 5 points per $1 spent on airfare booked directly with an airline or through AmexTravel.com (up to $500,000 per year, then 1x points) and on prepaid hotels booked through AmexTravel.com, making it one of the best cards for booking airfare. The card earns 1 point per $1 spent everywhere else.

That said, the Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley has 2 unique features that are not found on the standard Amex Platinum card. First, those with a Morgan Stanley Platinum CashPlus Account and an Amex Platinum card for Morgan Stanley are eligible for a $695 annual engagement bonus. This credit offsets most of the card’s annual fee.

Further, you can redeem Membership Rewards points at 1 cent per point to your Morgan Stanley Platinum CashPlus Account. However, this is significantly less than our valuation of 1 cent per point, so we recommend redeeming Membership Rewards points for travel if possible.

Hot Tip:

The Morgan Stanley Platinum CashPlus Account has a $55 monthly fee, which can be waived if you make $5,000 in monthly deposits and maintain an average daily balance of $25,000. However, you should run the numbers and see if it makes sense to keep that much cash in your Morgan Stanley account. You might earn more interest by keeping your cash in a high-yield savings account.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in the market for a premium travel credit card and have a banking relationship with Morgan Stanley, this higher 125,000-point welcome offer is worth considering. Just note that you might not be eligible for the bonus if you’ve had any variant of the Amex Platinum card in the past.
