All aboard! Check your Amtrak accounts to see if you were targeted for bonus Amtrak points this fall.

Now through October 31, 2024, you can earn 2x to 4x Amtrak Guest Rewards points on qualifying Amtrak bookings.

This promotion is an easy way to accumulate more Amtrak points by simply riding the rails — here are the details!

Mystery Offer

Check your Amtrak Guest Rewards account for a Mystery Offer worth 2x to 4x points.

From now until October 31, 2024, you can receive up to 4x Amtrak points on qualifying Amtrak purchases — from coach class to business class to a sleeper room.

You must register for the promotion before traveling.

Additionally, the offer applies to base points only. To qualify, you must be an Amtrak Guest Rewards member (sign up for free) and include your membership number when making travel reservations. You won’t receive points on canceled or refunded tickets.

Where This May Come in Handy

Interestingly, any Amtrak points accumulated via this promotion will count toward Amtrak elite status — so if you earn 100 Amtrak points normally and then earn another 300 points via this promotion, that’s 400 points earned toward Amtrak status.

Essentially, you can consider this offer an opportunity to earn Amtrak status 2x to 4x as fast.

Using Amtrak Guest Rewards Points

You can redeem Amtrak Guest Rewards points for several things:

  • You can redeem points for Amtrak tickets in all classes of service, including coach class, business class, first class (on Acela only), and a sleeping compartment on long-distance trains. While redemption values usually follow the cash cost of a ticket, redeeming for a premium cabin or sleeper service room can be a great value.
  • You can redeem your points for upgrades, which are most valuable when upgrading from business to first class on Acela trains.
  • You can redeem points for Amtrak lounge passes, valid at Metropolitan Lounges and ClubAcela lounges.
  • In addition to utilizing points on Amtrak, you can transfer your points to a few partners and redeem them for gift cards, though these are traditionally a poor value.
Hot Tip:

Learn more about where you can travel with Amtrak in our ultimate guide to Amtrak routes (regional and long-distance). We also have tips on the best ways to book cheap Amtrak train tickets.

Final Thoughts

This offer is open to all Amtrak Guest Rewards members and applies to all trains traveled within the promotion period. Although writers here at Upgraded Points were only targeted for 2x bonus points, members of our Level UP Travel group were targeted for 3x and 4x bonus points, so be sure to check your offer.

Amtrak Guest Rewards is one of the few currencies that can’t be transferred from elsewhere, so earning points 2x to 4x as fast can be very lucrative if you have particular Amtrak redemptions in mind or aspire to earn more Amtrak points.
