Bilt is making another attempt to steady the ship as it transitions cardholders to its new credit card lineup — and this time, it’s offering a bit more breathing room.

Following confusion, denials, and backlash tied to the rollout of its new products, dubbed Bilt 2.0, the company has confirmed 2 meaningful updates: an extended deadline for existing cardholders to choose a rollover option for new credit cards and continued opportunities to earn double points on Rent Day for eligible cards through early 2027.

For current Bilt members navigating the transition, these changes are designed to reduce friction — and to keep engagement high during a period of uncertainty.

Extended Deadline for Bilt’s Current Cardholders

If you currently hold the Bilt Mastercard (rates & fees), you’ll soon receive an email giving you extra time to decide how you want to proceed — whether you want to stay with Wells Fargo and no longer have a Bilt co-branded card or pick one of the 3 new Bilt Cards. The deadline to make a “seamless transition” to a new Bilt Card has been extended from January 30 to February 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

That extension matters. As previously reported, some cardholders attempting to transition were unexpectedly denied despite strong credit profiles, while others were unsure which product made the most sense based on earning rates and benefits. Bilt’s decision to allow more time appears aimed at reducing pressure — and potentially minimizing frustration — for members who aren’t ready to commit just yet.

Importantly, this extension applies only to existing cardholders who are eligible for rollover, and waiting shouldn’t be confused with opting out entirely. Still, having additional time to evaluate the 3 new cards is a welcome change after what has been a rocky transition.

Hot Tip:

Bilt’s issuer transition hasn’t been smooth. After announcing the 3 new cards and introducing Bilt Cash, numerous complaints led to the launch of a second option for card earnings. Then, customers discovered the information given at launch didn’t match information in the credit card benefits guides.

Double Points on Rent Day Continue Through 2027

The bigger headline, though, may be Rent Day.

Bilt has confirmed that double points on Rent Day (up to 1,000 points) will continue for all 2.0 cards — both new and transitioning — through January 1, 2027. The same caps and terms that apply to February’s Rent Day will carry forward, though Bilt notes that other Rent Day promotions may vary month to month.

Here’s how the bonus shakes out by card:

Notably, Bilt Cash and housing points will not be doubled, keeping Rent Day bonuses focused on spending, rather than rent itself.

Hot Tip:

This statement from Bilt signals that Rent Day may end in 2027, as it’s only guaranteed through January 1, 2027. We’ll have to see what happens with future Rent Day offers to understand how the value proposition changes.

Final Thoughts

After weeks of uncertainty, these updates feel like a course correction from Bilt. Extending the rollover deadline gives cardholders space to make informed decisions, while locking in double Rent Day earnings through January 1, 2027, adds tangible, long-term value.

It doesn’t erase earlier missteps, but it does suggest Bilt is listening — and trying to rebuild trust. For now, current cardholders should read their emails carefully, reassess their options, and decide whether the new lineup still earns a place in their wallet. Then, we’ll all watch what happens for the rest of 2026 with Rent Day to evaluate what it can offer if double earnings go away.
