Bilt, the company that rewards you for paying your rent, has had a partnership with Lyft for a while now. That’s nothing new. And the ability to earn Bilt points on your ride also isn’t new.

However, today’s announcement includes the ability to redeem your points on Lyft rides, providing a new option for points redemptions.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Redeem Bilt Points on Lyft Rides

Aside from Bilt Rewards‘ ongoing offer to earn points on paid rides, it’s now possible to use your points for these trips, saving you money when you need to get from A to B.

To use this option, members first need to link their Bilt and Lyft accounts. Afterward, members will see a “Points” option in the bottom right corner of the Lyft app when requesting a ride. Using this feature, members can cover the cost of their ride with points — though this appears to come at a sub-par redemption rate of 0.7 cents per point.

How To Earn Up to 5x Bilt Points on Paid Rides With Lyft

To start earning bonus points on Lyft, you must first link your 2 accounts directly in the Bilt Rewards app.

From that point on, if you have the Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card, you can earn 5x points per $1 spent on all Lyft rides. Meanwhile, all other Bilt loyalty members (it’s free to join!) will still earn 2x Bilt points per $1 spent.

Remember that the following loyalty programs also partner with Lyft. Unfortunately, you can only choose 1 program to earn bonus points at a time:

  • 1x Alaska MileagePlan miles per $1 spent
  • 1x Delta SkyMile per $1 spent or 2x SkyMiles on rides to an airport
  • 3x Hilton Honors points per $1 spent on private rides and 2x points on shared rides

Compared to the other options, earning Bilt Rewards points makes the most sense. That’s because they’re worth 1.8 cents apiece in our valuations. That’s up to a 9% return on Lyft rides!

About Bilt Rewards

Bilt has come a long way since it came into the market in 2021, enabling its members and cardholders to earn rewards for paying their rent.

With the Bilt Card, you can earn 3x Bilt Points on dining, 2x points on travel, and 1x points on rent (up to 100,000 points per calendar year) and on other purchases.  They’ve nicknamed the first of each month “Rent Day,” through which cardholders can earn double rewards on all purchases, excluding rent.

Bilt Points can be transferred to more than a dozen airline and hotel loyalty programs, including World of Hyatt. It’s easier than ever to search for live award availability, thanks to integrating the Point.me search tool directly in the Bilt app.

Additional Bilt points redemption options include select group fitness classes and even a down payment on a home.

Bottom Line:

Bilt Rewards lets you earn points when you pay your rent that you can later use to redeem for travel, Amazon purchases, and more. Now, you can even redeem these points for Lyft rides.

Final Thoughts

From rent and dining to travel and rideshares, members and cardholders can earn bonus Bilt points on just about every purchase. That includes earning up to 5x points on Lyft rides.

However, if you don’t want to pay for your ride, it’s now possible to redeem Bilt points through Lyft. Just be mindful that there are other, more valuable ways to use these points.
