Capital One recently introduced its own lounge network concept, starting with the Capital One Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Also announced were lounges at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Denver International Airport (DEN), however, those lounges have now been delayed to open in 2023.
What Is the Capital One Lounge?
Similar to how American Express operates Centurion Lounges around the country, Capital One has ventured into the lounge space by introducing Capital One Lounges.
The first lounge has already opened at DFW (check out our detailed review!). This lounge is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and has these amenities:
- A fully-staffed bar
- A buffet line featuring pre-plated, individual portions
- A grab-and-go refrigerator featuring sandwiches, salads, juices, sodas, and other items to-go
- Private restroom facilities
- A prayer room
- A shower room
- An exercise room
- Plenty of seating with charging ports
The lounges are open complimentary to those with a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card who can also bring in 2 guests. Cardholders of the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Spark Miles for Business can enjoy 2 free visits per year (with guests at $45), and all other travelers can pay $65 per visit.
Dulles and Denver Lounges
The Capital One Lounge is considered to be one of the most premium lounge concepts currently in the county, and along with the launch of the DFW lounge, Capital One also announced lounges at IAD and DEN.
The Dulles lounge is to be built immediately after TSA PreCheck in the Main Terminal. While this will be far from most of the gates, Capital One is emphasizing the grab-and-go experience here.
In Denver, the lounge will be built in Concourse A on the mezzanine level. This lounge will primarily serve United and other Star Alliance passengers, though will be open to any passenger via the intra-terminal train system.
Both the Dulles and Denver lounges were slated to open this summer, mid-2022, but unfortunately, construction delays have pushed back the opening into 2023. Worse, Capital One’s website only says the lounges will open in 2023 and doesn’t give an indication as to whether this will be in early-mid or late 2023.
Bottom Line: While Capital One doesn’t give a specific reason for the delayed opening, like many construction projects, supply and labor issues are forcing many projects to be pushed back by many months, so while these lounge delays are disappointing, we’re not really surprised.
You’ll now be able to look forward to Capital One’s 2 latest lounges at Washington Dulles and Denver opening in 2023 instead of 2022. In the meantime, if you’re an eligible CapOne Venture X cardholder, you’ll be able to continue to use the Priority Pass network in both airports to satisfy your airport lounge needs.
