Run, don’t walk, if you want a deal on one of the world’s longest flights. Singapore Airlines’ premium economy flights from Newark to Singapore and Southeast Asia are available for $500 to $800 off — as low as $1,180 round-trip.

Let’s take a look in more detail.

Fare Details

Singapore Airlines’ premium economy is among the best, and although the seats don’t fully recline, they’re still very comfortable. They’re more akin to domestic first class seats, with a footrest and better recline than standard economy.

Premium economy passengers are also entitled to better food, including access to the airline’s Book the Cook Menu seen here. Finally, priority boarding, check-in, and baggage handling are all part of the premium economy experience.

  • Class: Premium economy
  • Routes: Newark and New York City (EWR, JFK) to Singapore (SIN)
  • Dates: September to October 2024
  • Rates: From $1,180 round-trip

There’s widespread availability at these rates in September 2024:

Even when the calendar showed $1,270, choosing a flight led to a final price of $1,180. Check out Google’s flight calendar to find dates that work for you:

Flights in September 2024 offer the lowest price, with prices climbing to the $1,400s and $1,500s on many dates from October 2024 through February 2025. That’s still less than these flights typically cost.

If Singapore isn’t your intended destination, there are still solid deals to other destinations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. We found solid deals to both Bangkok and Phuket, such as this ticket for $1,279 round-trip in premium economuy:

These destinations follow the same general logic: The best prices are in September 2024, while other discounts are available through February 2025 — though the discounts aren’t as good.

Best Ways To Book

The absolute cheapest way to book this fare is through an online travel agency (OTA). This includes sites such as Expedia or Priceline and can be a decent option if you’re looking to spend as little money as possible. If this is the case, pay using a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, which will earn 3x Ultimate Rewards points on all travel purchases.

You also can book directly with the airline, which may cost a little more but can be helpful if you need to change or cancel your flight. If this is what you choose, The Platinum Card® from American Express will allow you to earn 5x Membership Rewards on all flights booked directly with the airline or via AmexTravel.com (up to $500,000 per year, then 1x).

Final Thoughts

The journey from New York to Singapore is undeniably long. It lasts more than 18 hours, and you basically give up a whole day for the flight plus time at the airport. However, with this fare sale from Singapore Airlines, you’ll be able to enjoy yourself a little more in the airline’s excellent premium economy product.
