Earn 5x Miles With Delta Gift Cards

The first of these promotions will net you up to 5x SkyMiles per $1 spent on Delta gift cards, though you must purchase a minimum of $400. Your earnings rate will vary depending on your SkyMiles membership level:

• SkyMiles general members: 3x SkyMiles
• Silver Medallion members: 4x SkyMiles
• Gold Medallion members: 4x SkyMiles
• Platinum Medallion members: 5x SkyMiles
• Diamond Medallion members: 5x SkyMiles

Gift cards must be purchased on the promotion page, and the deal will expire on December 4, 2024. Only individuals with a U.S. address are eligible for this offer, and the bonus miles should take about 14 days to post.

Earn 4x Miles on Hotel Stays

The second promotion available to customers will earn them 4x SkyMiles per $1 spent on hotel stays booked through Delta’s hotel site:

• Valid from now through December 4, 2024
• Earn 4x miles per $1 spent
• Travel must be completed by February 28, 2025
• Must include your SkyMiles number at the time of booking

Is It Worth It?

While each of these promotions offers up to 5x miles and 4x miles, respectively, they are not entirely alike. We value Delta SkyMiles at 1.2 cents each, which means you’ll net an up to 6% return on the purchase of Delta gift cards and a 4.8% return on hotel bookings through Delta. While that represents a pretty good deal when it comes to purchasing Delta gift cards, the same can’t be said for booking hotels.

There are a couple of reasons for this. First, hotels booked through third parties — as this would be — are generally not eligible for elite night credits or any benefits of elite status. That means you’ll miss out on some big benefits if you hold elite status with hotels. Second, there are a great many hotel credit cards that’ll give you a better return on your spend than 4.8%

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, for example, earns 14x Hilton Honors points per $1 spent with Hilton properties. We value Hilton points at 0.5 cents each, so you’ll be earning a 7% return on your stays right off the bat. And because the Hilton Aspire card grants you top-tier Hilton elite status, you’ll want to factor in the additional 20x points per $1 spent, making your actual net return 17%. That far outstrips the benefits you’d see from booking with Delta.

Final Thoughts

These are some pretty decent promotions if you’re looking to bulk up your Delta SkyMiles balance, but 1 far outstrips the other. Purchase $400+ worth of Delta cards by December 4, 2024, to earn up to 5x miles per $1 spent, but skip the hotel booking in favor of better returns with other cards.
