It may not be the most well-known, but Delta Air Lines and Hawaiian Airlines maintain a partnership that provides reciprocal mileage earning and redeeming, along with a selection of other benefits.

However, as Hawaiian’s integration with Alaska Airlines continues, the Delta partnership will conclude at the end of this month.

Here’s what you need to know.

Delta and Hawaiian Cut Ties on June 30

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines made waves when they announced they would merge. Since then, the 2 carriers have grown ever closer on their way to becoming a single carrier — while simultaneously shedding elements that will not fit with the identity or alignment of the new Alaska Airlines.

Hawaiian was never previously in one of the 3 major airline alliances (Oneworld, SkyTeam, and Star Alliance), but Alaska Airlines is a relatively new member of Oneworld, where it will remain once its integration with Hawaiian Airlines is complete.

As such, Hawaiian is ending its partnership with Delta Air Lines (a member of the competing SkyTeam alliance) as of June 30, 2025.

Travelers booked on Hawaiian Airlines flights can still earn Delta SkyMiles if travel is ticketed on or before June 30, 2025, and flown by April 1, 2026. Award tickets on Hawaiian Airlines booked with Delta SkyMiles must be issued by June 30, 2025, and flown by April 1, 2026. These tickets cannot be changed after June 30. Only refunds will be issued.

All other existing frequent flyer benefits will cease on June 30, 2025.

A few months ago, Hawaiian announced it would end partnerships with several other airlines, including Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic, Japan Airlines, and more. This is also happening June 30.

Hot Tip:

There’s another important change coming to the new Alaska Airlines on June 30. The loophole that allowed transferring American Express Membership Rewards points to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan via Hawaiian Airlines’ HawaiianMiles program will cease to exist at the end of this month.

Final Thoughts

Hawaiian Airlines is aligning itself even more closely with Alaska Airlines as the 2 carriers move toward becoming a single airline. Part of that process is eliminating partnerships that will no longer serve the mission of the combined carrier, which means Hawaiian will no longer have a partnership with Delta Air Lines.

If you have upcoming award travel — or are thinking of booking a Hawaiian Airlines ticket with your Delta SkyMiles — keep the June 30 deadline in mind. Also, remember that award tickets cannot be changed after that date.
