Delta Air Lines just announced 2 exciting new routes from Los Angeles (LAX). Nonstop service to Hong Kong (HKG) and Chicago (ORD) will launch next summer.

Here’s what you need to know.

New Routes From Delta’s LAX Hub

Delta Air Lines will add 2 new routes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) next year: Hong Kong (HKG) starting June 6, 2026, and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) beginning June 7, 2026

Delta will fly daily to Hong Kong using the Airbus A350-900. This four-class jet features the lie-flat Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main. At LAX, Delta One customers will have access to the Delta One Lounge, which features an outdoor terrace, a restaurant, and a sushi bar.

Additionally, the airline will fly 3 times daily to Chicago, using its workhorse Boeing 737-800, which features Delta First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main Cabin.

“Launching service to Hong Kong and Chicago from LAX strengthens our presence in two of the world’s most dynamic markets,” said Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning. “As the largest global carrier at LAX, we’re continuing to invest in routes that matter to our customers and deliver the premium travel experience that they’ve come to expect from Delta.”

How To Book

Unfortunately, flights don’t seem to be available on either route yet. We’ll monitor Delta’s website and update this post with details about pricing and award availability as soon as they become available.

When the routes are available, you’ll be able to book using Delta SkyMiles or through a SkyTeam partner, such as Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Flying Blue.

While these 2 routes are new for Delta, other airlines fly nonstop from LAX to Hong Kong and Chicago. United Airlines and Cathay Pacific fly daily to Hong Kong, while American Airlines and United fly daily to Chicago.

Bottom Line:

LAX is one of Delta’s most important West Coast hubs, serving more than 160 peak-day departures to over 50 destinations. The airline continues to expand its presence at LAX by resuming service to Shanghai (PVG). Additionally, Delta plans to add flights to Melbourne (MEL) in December 2026.

Final Thoughts

Delta is expanding its Los Angeles hub with 2 new routes to Hong Kong and Chicago. Although service won’t begin until June 2026, the announcement signals the airline’s continued commitment to growing at LAX, one of its key West Coast hubs.
