Interested in heading to Crete, the largest island in Greece?

Known for its stunning beaches, olive oil crafters, and diverse landscape, it’s a journey worth the effort. If you’ve never been then now’s the time to book — we found rates from the West Coast all the way to Chania (CHQ) for just over $500.

Let’s dive in!

Fare Deal — Details

It’s rare to find cheap flights to Greece, especially since there are so few direct routes. It’s even rarer to find flights all the way to Crete for so little, which means if you’re interested in this fare sale you’ll want to jump on it quickly.

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: Los Angeles (LAX), Dallas (DFW) to Chania (CHQ), Greece
  • Dates: March to April 2023, August to December 2023
  • Rates: As low as $501 round-trip

We complete our searches using Google Flights. Its excellent explore tool came back with routes from Los Angeles (LAX) to Chania (CHQ):

You’ll also find cheap fares from Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW), which is marginally more expensive.

Although you’ll need to pay to check a bag on these flights, it is possible to bring a carry-on for free. And if all you’re bringing is a bathing suit anyway, do you really need anything more?

Best Ways To Book

These flights are operated by Oneworld carriers American Airlines, British Airways, and Finnair, all of which allow you to book directly.

You’ll find the best rates on American’s site, which means you’ll want to use a card that maximizes points on airfare purchased directly with the airline. The Platinum Card® from American Express is good for this, as it earns 5x Membership Rewards points on airfare booked directly with the airline or through AmexTravel.com (up to $500,000 per year).

Otherwise, consider a card that may earn fewer points but offers better travel insurance, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, which earns 3x Ultimate Rewards points on all travel purchases. The complimentary travel insurance offered by this card is some of the best in the business and will help protect you in case anything goes awry (such as flight delays or lost luggage).

Final Thoughts

Greece is a spectacular place to spend some time, but why limit yourself to its major cities? Instead, head to Crete and get the best of both worlds with laid-back island vibes and plenty of sightseeing to boot.
