Admittedly, when the Equinox credit on the Platinum Card® from American Express was first introduced, I wasn’t interested. There are no Equinox gyms near me, so I ignored it.

Fast forward a couple of years, and now, I absolutely love the Amex Platinum card’s Equinox credit. Every year, it gives you up to $300 in statement credits after enrollment.

Here’s what changed for me and how I get a lot of value from this benefit, even though I don’t live anywhere near an Equinox gym.

Overview of Amex Platinum Card’s Lifestyle Benefits

The Amex Platinum card has leaned heavily into its lifestyle benefits this year.

While it still offers numerous great travel perks, including airport lounge access, an up to $600 prepaid hotel credit, an up to $200 airline incidental fee credit, and more, its lifestyle benefits are what make the card an essential addition to my wallet:

I love that the Amex Platinum card makes it easy to keep up a healthy lifestyle. I can shop for workout (or post-workout) gear at lululemon, take time for a yoga class with the Equinox+ app, keep track of my fitness and health goals with an Oura Ring, dine out with friends and family with the Resy credits, and stay relaxed at home with the digital entertainment credit.

Even without considering the card’s travel benefits or ability to earn Membership Rewards, these lifestyle benefits offer $1,500 in value. That’s incredible for a card with an annual fee of $895 (rates & fees).

How the Amex Platinum Card’s Equinox Credit Works

The Amex Platinum card has an annual credit of up to $300 that can be used for a membership to Equinox clubs or an Equinox+ fitness app membership.

There are no clubs where I live (in Ohio), so I ignored this benefit until a few months ago, when I realized that you can use the $300 credit to pay for an entire year of the Equinox+ fitness app (iOS, Android) — which includes on-demand classes you can do at home.

Normally, the Equinox+ membership costs $39.99 per month, equating to nearly $500 per year. However, Amex Platinum cardmembers get an exclusive discount that brings down the membership cost to $300 per year.

To get started, you’ll need to go to the Rewards & Benefits section of your online account, click on Benefits, and then scroll down to Enroll.

You’ll be directed to the Equinox website, where you can use your Amex Platinum card to sign up for an annual membership. The cost is $300. When you pay with your Amex Platinum card, you’ll typically receive a statement credit of $300 within a few days.

Be sure you’re signing up through the Equinox Amex partnership page, as the discounted $300 cost is only available to Amex Platinum cardholders.

Bottom Line:

As an Amex Platinum cardholder, you can purchase a discounted annual subscription to the Equinox+ app for $300. By paying with your card (after benefit enrollment), you’ll get a statement credit of up to $300.

Why I Love the Equinox+ App

I had always pictured Equinox gyms as being places for intense fitness fanatics. That’s not my style, so I didn’t bother to look at the mobile app until the big Amex Platinum card refresh in September 2025. Then, I took the time to review all of the card’s new and existing benefits.

After browsing the Equinox+ app, I realized that it included classes that were more in line with my interests, such as yoga and Pilates.

I signed up immediately using my Amex Platinum card. The cost of my year-long membership to the Equinox+ app was $300, and I received a statement credit of $300 within a few days. My out-of-pocket cost was $0.

In addition to yoga and Pilates, there are lots of different classes through the Equinox+ app:

  • HeadStrong: Guided meditations
  • PURE Yoga: Beginner to advanced yoga
  • Precision Run: Guided treadmill, outdoor walking, and running
  • [solidcore]: Pilates-based workouts
  • TB12: Strength training, pliability, and targeted recovery inspired by Tom Brady
  • Equinox workouts: MetCon3, Tabata, and more
Bottom Line:

If you enjoy working out, practicing yoga, or even meditating, the Equinox+ app could be a great addition to your routine, especially because the Amex Platinum card’s credit of up to $300 will cover the cost of an annual membership.

Final Thoughts

The Equinox benefit on the Amex Platinum card often goes unnoticed by most cardholders. While it’s not as substantial or flashy as other benefits, such as airport lounge access or a prepaid hotel credit of up to $600, it can still be quite valuable to many cardholders.

Whether you’re a fitness junkie or simply want to get more active, you’ll definitely want to take a closer look.
