IHG One Rewards is currently offering an extremely generous offer for free Diamond Elite status — a pretty big deal considering this is the program’s top status level.
Members can register for this promotion and instantly start receiving elite benefits on their next stay. There is also an option to extend your new status through 2023 with qualifying activity.
This doesn’t appear to be targeted, but it is generally a good idea to move quickly with these types of deals as they could be pulled at any time.
Let’s take a look at the details.
Right now, IHG One Rewards members can register for the Straight to Diamond promotion to instantly earn Diamond Elite status through December 31, 2022.
If you complete 10 eligible paid nights within the promotion period you can maintain Diamond status through December 31, 2023.
Registering is easy and you should receive an email confirmation immediately after.

Normally you need to earn 70 qualifying nights or 120,000 elite qualifying points in a calendar year to receive top-tier Diamond Elite status, so this is an incredible deal.

IHG revamped its rewards program and introduced IHG One Rewards earlier this year. With it came a new tier level, the ability to earn points more quickly, improved benefits, and expanded choices.
There are now 4 elite levels: Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite (new), and Diamond Elite.

For many travelers, the upgrades and free breakfast will be quite valuable. If you have a stay coming up, registering for this deal is probably a good idea even if you don’t plan on extending through 2023.
Overall, assuming this isn’t a mistake on IHG’s part, this is a great promotion that’s easily worth signing up for if you have an IHG stay coming up.
There’s a chance that this was targeted at a smaller group of people, however, this is also a good way for IHG to drum up some business at the end of the year just like Hilton and Hyatt have been doing. Since the only guaranteed benefit is breakfast, there isn’t a huge cost for the brand.
Getting top-tier status with IHG One Rewards with just a few clicks is an incredible deal for guests, especially if you already had some paid stays planned that would help you extend your status through 2023.
Free breakfast (and upgrades if you’re lucky) can add a lot of value to your stays (especially longer ones) so if you’re planning an IHG stay in the next couple of months, it’s a great idea to register now.
