Frontier Airlines, the ultra-low-cost carrier, is expanding by launching 2 new routes from Chicago Midway (MDW) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Miami (MIA).
Here’s everything you need to know about the newest additions to Frontier’s network.
Frontier Launches 2 New Routes from Chicago Midway
Frontier Airlines began service from Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA) on November 5, 2022. Miami service is 5 times per week and Fort Lauderdale service is daily. With the launch, this means Frontier will now serve 11 destinations from Midway.
“We’re thrilled to launch these exciting routes from MDW,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines, in a statement. “South Florida is a popular wintertime escape for Chicagoans. Getting there is now a whole lot easier thanks to Frontier’s ‘Low Fares Done Right,'” the statement continued.
The airline is offering introductory fares starting at $69 each way to celebrate the launch. To get the deal, these tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. EST on November 10, 2022. Fares are valid for nonstop travel on various days of the week from now through March 1, 2023.
Note that a 7-day advance purchase is required, and the following blackout dates apply: November 23, 26-28, 2022; December 16, 2022 – January 3, 2023; and February 20, 2023. Round-trip purchase is not required.
Finally, keep in mind that when flying Frontier Airlines you’ll pay extra to pick seats and check bags. These costs are not included in the base fare. Also, some of the cheapest fares are through the Discount Den program, which you have to pay separately to join.
Frontier’s Rapid Expansion
This news comes amid a rapid expansion for Frontier, which is headquartered in Denver.
These new routes are positive news for Chicago-area travelers who want more low-cost flight options to South Florida. If you’ve been eyeing a trip to Fort Lauderdale or Miami, you’ll definitely want to jump on the $69 one-way introductory fares, but make sure you book before November 10, 2022!
