Here’s what CBP says you can expect:

Your Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST membership stays active.
You don’t need to reapply or create a new account.
Your existing login credentials will work in the new app.
Your profile and membership info will transfer.
The mobile arrival processing you already use will carry over, subject to the usual eligibility and location rules.

The new app also becomes an enrollment method. Applications and renewals still happen on the Trusted Traveler Programs website, but the app will link you there directly, which is a nice touch for anyone juggling programs across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

So what should you do if you’ve been using an app that’s going away?

If you use the current Global Entry app, keep it on your phone until September 15, then download the Trusted Traveler mobile app, sign in with your existing credentials, and confirm that your profile and membership details are correct. CBP is specifically telling users not to delete the old app until the new one is installed and you’ve signed in successfully. If something looks off after you log in, the CBP Help Center is your first stop.

A word of warning: A rollout like this is ripe for scammers. Government app launches often attract lookalike apps designed to harvest travelers’ personal details. Only download through the official links on the Trusted Traveler Programs page, and double-check the app name, icon, and publisher before typing your password.

For travelers who’ve never touched the old app and just use the blue kiosks (or the newer camera-based arrival lanes that skip the kiosk entirely), nothing about your customs experience changes. The app switch only matters if you use mobile arrival processing on your phone.
