IHG announced signings for 4 new properties in Nepal: InterContinental Kathmandu Lazimpat, Hotel Indigo Pokhara Gharipatan, InterContinental Resort Pokhara Begnas Lake, and InterContinental Resort Chitwan, Meghauli.

“The strategic location of all four hotels in different key tourism destinations of Nepal provide us with a great opportunity to offer world-class hospitality and cater to the demands of our guests,” said Sudeep Jain, Managing Director of South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts.

  • The InterContinental Kathmandu Lazimpat, located in Nepal’s capital, will have 225 rooms and suites and be catered to business and leisure travelers. The hotel will have several dining options, a ballroom, a retail store, fitness facilities, and a swimming pool.
  • The InterContinental Pokhara Begnas Lake in central Nepal will have 80 rooms, plus all-day dining, a lobby lounge, and a bar. Like other InterContinental hotels, this property will have a spa, a club lounge, and a pool, among other amenities.
  • Hotel Indigo Pokhara, also in central Nepal, will have 100 rooms. This property will have 2 meeting spaces, a lobby lounge and bar, a health club, a spa, a business center, recreation areas, and a swimming pool.
  • The InterContinental Resort Chitwan will have just 80 rooms. It’s located close to Chitwan National Park, home to rare animals such as one-horned rhinos and rare birds. The hotel will feature all-day dining, a health club, a spa, a business center, a pool, and a recreation area.

IHG says the new hotels will open in the next 1 to 4 years. Better yet, all 4 hotels will participate in the IHG One Rewards program.

Other IHG Hotels to Book

IHG has a significant presence in South Asia, with 47 hotels operating across 5 brands. Another 53 are in the pipeline with scheduled openings in the coming years.

While these hotels aren’t open yet, you can earn and redeem points for a stay at IHG’s other properties in the region. IHG offers 2 personal and 1 business credit card, which are issued by Chase. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

There are some pretty solid sweet spots if you find yourself in the region, including the InterContinental Bali Resort, available starting at 28,000 IHG One Rewards points for dates this summer, and InterContinental Singapore, starting at 55,000 points.

Final Thoughts

This is exciting news, especially for travelers interested in exploring Nepal in the coming years. Nepal is well-known for hiking excursions such as Mount Everest. However, there’s much more to see and do in the country. In the meantime, take a look at IHG’s other properties and resorts in the region!
