IHG is debuting its luxury InterContinental brand in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent.

Here’s a look at this new hotel!

IHG Opens Its First Property in Uzbekistan

On June 8, 2023, IHG announced the opening of the 5-star InterContinental Tashkent, marking the brand’s debut in Uzbekistan.

The hotel features 216 rooms, including 38 signature suites and 2 presidential suites, all with city views. The hotel has several restaurants and bars, including a rooftop bar, a whiskey library, and a signature restaurant serving Asian cuisine.

Other amenities include a spa, a fitness club, a pool, a ballroom, and 10 meeting spaces.

The hotel is just a 20-minute drive to Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport (TAS), Tashkent’s main airport.

“Signaling an emergence of luxury in the country, we are excited to officially open InterContinental Tashkent,” said Tom Rowntree, Vice President of Luxury Brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “Set to be one of the most iconic hotels in the capital, the property combines luxury and contemporary comfort, alongside a strong focus on sustainability and providing a seamless guest experience with the latest technology.”

This marks IHG’s first hotel in Uzbekistan, a country in Central Asia and a former Soviet republic. According to IHG’s website, another hotel is expected to open in the capital city of Tashkent, the Holiday Inn Tashkent City. However, rooms at this hotel aren’t available for bookings until September 2024.

Booking the InterContinental Tashkent With Points

The InterContinental Tashkent is now open for guests and is participating in the IHG One Rewards program, which means you can earn and redeem points at the hotel.

Award nights start at just 27,200 IHG One Rewards points for dates in August, which is a pretty solid deal for a luxury hotel.

And luckily, it’s relatively easy to earn IHG One Rewards points. IHG offers 3 credit cards — 2 personal and 1 business — all issued by Chase.

If you have Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points, these can be transferred to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Additionally, you can also earn points for dining out when enrolling in the IHG Dining program, using IHG Business Rewards and earning points for hosting qualifying events or purchasing IHG One Rewards points.

Final Thoughts

This is pretty exciting news that a new luxury hotel has opened in one of the largest cities in Central Asia. Even better, the InterContinental Tashkent is affordable when using IHG points, which could be a new sweet spot for travelers visiting the country!
