The Blue Sky partnership between JetBlue and United has achieved another milestone, with reciprocal bookings available on each airline’s channels.

“This milestone is another proof point of the value Blue Sky is bringing customers — in giving them the ability to book with cash, miles, or points on either network, customers now have more choice, flexibility, and a better overall booking experience when traveling to their favorite destinations,” said Andrew Nocella, EVP and chief commercial officer at United.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest development in the Blue Sky partnership.

You Can Now Book JetBlue and United Itineraries on Each Carrier’s Website With Cash

JetBlue and United have rolled out the latest feature of their Blue Sky partnership — reciprocal cash bookings. This means that starting this week, you can head to either airline’s website (or mobile app) and book eligible itineraries operated by either carrier with cash.

In the last partnership update, the carriers introduced reciprocal award bookings, but cash wasn’t possible. This week, that changes, with customers now able to use cash or points/miles to book flights operated by either carrier through either’s booking channels.

A joint press release says that more itineraries will become available as the week progresses.

Mixed itineraries — i.e., a single trip involving flights on both airlines — are not available in this update, but both carriers expect them to be added down the line.

Here’s an example of a JetBlue revenue flight between New York (JFK) and Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI), bookable via United.com:

And here’s a look at revenue United flights from Chicago (ORD) to San Juan (SJU) bookable via JetBlue.com:

Members of either airline’s loyalty program have been able to earn and redeem miles on each carrier’s flights since last year, but the addition of reciprocal revenue bookings brings more flexibility in case redeeming points or miles isn’t an option, and it more fully integrates the booking experience between both airlines in this partnership.

Still To Come for Blue Sky

Reciprocal bookings are now available for cash or points/miles bookings, but there’s more coming from JetBlue and United’s Blue Sky partnership.

Later this spring, members can expect reciprocal elite benefits, including priority boarding, preferred seating, same-day flight changes and standby, and more.

And later in 2026, United’s MileagePlus Travel will migrate to the JetBlue Travel platform and expand its offerings for hotels, rental cars, cruises, packages, and travel insurance.

Finally, early next year, JetBlue will grant United access to up to 7 daily slots at JFK. This allows United to reenter JFK, an airport where it currently has no presence and is otherwise dominated by AmericanDelta, and, of course, JetBlue. JetBlue and United will also share 8 flight times at Newark (EWR).

We haven’t yet heard an update on reciprocal lounge access, but now that JetBlue has opened its new BlueHouse lounge at JFK — and another location is on the way for Boston (BOS) — we hope to hear more about this very soon.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue and United’s Blue Sky partnership continues to develop, with reciprocal cash bookings now available. This should give customers more flexibility as they book itineraries with either airline, and it brings us 1 step closer to the complete implementation of this exciting partnership.
