Lyft Pink, the rideshare company’s monthly subscription service, just received a big refresh with new perks and a lower subscription price.
If you currently are — or in the past have been — a Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholder, then you’re likely already familiar with Lyft Pink as it was previously a complimentary benefit for cardholders.
Now that it is no longer a complimentary perk, many will wonder whether a Lyft Pink membership is actually worth it.
Here’s a look at what the new Lyft Pink program has to offer subscribers.
New Lyft Pink and Lyft Pink All Access Benefits
For $9.99 per month, or $99 per year, Lyft Pink subscribers will receive the following benefits:
Free Priority Pickup upgrades (faster pickups) and save $3 to 4 per ride on average
Exclusive savings with at least 5% off on Lux, Preferred, and XL rides
Cancellation forgiveness, cancel up to 3 times per month for free
In-app roadside assistance for your own car, free up to 4 times a year
Free bike or scooter unlock each month
Free SIXT car rental upgrades
Save on food delivery with Grubhub+
The most interesting benefits appear to be that you can save at least 5% on select rides, get free priority pickup, and receive up to 3 free cancellations per year, which usually cost $5 per cancellation. Further, if you’re already a Grubhub+ subscriber, or would find value in a Grubhub+ subscription, then Lyft Pink might be a no-brainer for you as it includes a complimentary Grubhub+ subscription — a savings of $9.99 each month.
For $199 per year, you can upgrade your subscription to Lyft Pink All Access, which includes all of the standard Lyft Pink benefits plus:
Free, unlimited 45-min classic bike rides
Free unlimited e-bike and scooter unlocks
Discounted e-bike and scooter rates
3 bike or scooter guest passes per year
Unless you live in a city with wide access to Lyft e-bikes and scooters (and you use them often) this tier will likely be much harder to justify.
Additional Ways To Save on Lyft Rides
For award travelers, there are several ways to stack perks together to make your Lyft rides even more rewarding.
For Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders, you’ll enjoy up to 2 free years of Lyft Pink All Access Membership — plus, you’ll still earn a whopping 10x points per $1 on your rides.
Lyft Pink All Access Membership includes:
Free Priority Pickup rides to get picked up aster
Member-exclusive pricing (including 10% off Lux rides)
Cancellation forgiveness, which lets you cancel up to 3 times per month for free
In-app roadside assistance for your own car, up to 4 free times per year
Free Grubhub+ for 1 year
Free SIXT car rental upgrades
Free unlimited 45-minute classic bike rides
Free unlimited ebike and scooter unlocks
3 bike or scooter guest passes per year
50% discount off the 3rd year of Lyft Pink All Access Membership
Those with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or a card in the Chase Freedom or Chase Ink families will earn 5x points per $1 on rides.
If you don’t have one of these Chase cards, but you have a Mastercard, you can receive a $5 Lyft credit each month after 3 rides that you pay for with your linked Mastercard.
As if that weren’t enough, Lyft has a partnership with both Delta and Hilton that allows you to earn points with either program on eligible rides. You’ll have to choose which program you want to link to your account, but this is a great way to earn even more points on each ride.
The new and improved Lyft Pink program certainly seems like an improvement over the old program, even more so when you factor in that the monthly subscription price has been cut in half. If you’re someone who takes a Lyft at least a few times each month, and/or you use Grubhub+, then adding the new Lyft Pink membership might be well worth it for you.
