Morgan Stanley has teamed up with American Express to offer its own version of the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express to its clients with an eligible Morgan Stanley brokerage account. The Morgan Stanley Blue Cash Preferred® American Express Card will be largely identical to the standard version that American Express offers, with an added benefit that Morgan Stanley clients will enjoy.
Here is an overview of what you can expect from the card.
Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card Welcome Bonus
Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred cardmembers can receive a $300 statement credit after spending $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 6 months, along with a $0 annual fee for your first year ($95 annual fee thereafter).
New cardholders will also receive $0 intro APR on purchases for 12 months from the date of account opening, then a variable APR of 12.99% to 23.99%.
Hot Tip: This is a great welcome bonus, as the standard welcome bonus for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card usually hovers around $250!
Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card Rewards
You’ll earn rewards with the Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred card at the following rates:
- 6% cash-back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (1% thereafter)
- 6% cash-back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions (including Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc.)
- 3% cash-back at U.S. gas stations and on transit
- 1% cash-back on all other purchases
Again these rates are identical to the standard version of the card, however, these are some pretty fantastic cash-back rates if you have a high level of expenses in one or more of these categories. 6% back at U.S. supermarkets alone will allow you to earn up to $360 in cash-back each year if your spending needs meet the $6,000 threshold.
Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card Benefits
Cardholders also receive the following card perks:
- Up to $100 statement credit every year after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases; this benefit is exclusive to Morgan Stanley customers and effectively allows you to offset the card’s annual fee each year
- Up to $120 annual Equinox+ credit
- Secondary rental car insurance
- Return protection of up to $300 per item and a maximum of $1,000 per year
- Access to Amex Offers
Final Thoughts
The Amex Blue Cash Preferred card was already a stellar credit card option for those looking to rack up the cash-back on supermarket, streaming, gas, and transit purchases, but the Morgan Stanley Amex Blue Cash Preferred card provides even more value to its clients by offering a $100 annual statement credit when you spend $15,000 on the card in a calendar year.
