Update: The offers mentioned below have expired and are no longer available.

For a limited time, new cardholders of the Citi Rewards+® Card can earn up to 50,000 points, which is the largest welcome bonus we’ve ever seen for this card with no annual fee.

Here are all of the details you need to know about this new welcome bonus offer.

Earn Up to 50,000 Citi ThankYou Points

The welcome bonus is broken up into 2 separate spending tiers. The first allows you to earn 20,000 ThankYou Points after spending $1,500 within the first 3 months of account opening. You’ll also earn 5x ThankYou Points per $1 spent at restaurants on up to $6,000 in spend for the first 12 months, and then 1x thereafter.

Together, this would allow you to earn up to 50,000 ThankYou Points for meeting both thresholds — 20,000 for the welcome bonus, and 30,000 for the restaurant spend. We value Citi ThankYou Points at 1.6 cents per point, making this bonus worth $800 in our view — pretty spectacular for a card with no annual fee.

Citi Rewards+ Card Benefits

Beyond a great welcome bonus, the Citi Rewards+ card offers the following benefits to cardholders:

  • 2x points per $1 spent at supermarkets and gas stations on the first $6,000 in spend each year, then 1x point per $1 spent thereafter
  • 1x point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Round up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase. For instance, a $3 coffee order earns 10 points, and a $15 lunch order earns you 20 points. There is no cap on purchases that are rounded up.
  • Get 10% of your redeemed points back on up to the first 100,000 points redeemed per year
  • Access to Citi ThankYou transfer partners

Not only does this no-annual-fee card feature access to all of the Citi ThankYou transfer partners, but it can also form quite the formidable card duo when paired with the Citi Premier® Card thanks to its round-up feature on small purchases and the ability to earn 10% of your redeemed points back each year.

Final Thoughts

Most no-annual-fee cards don’t offer a great welcome bonus, so the opportunity to earn 50,000 points is certainly worth considering. If you’re a fan of Citi ThankYou Points, or already hold the Citi Premier card (which currently has an 80,000-point welcome bonus of its own), then this could be the perfect time to add the Citi Rewards+ card to your wallet as well.
