Seats.aero is one of our favorite ways to search for award flights. Although it doesn’t have the sleekest interface, it’s easy to use and incredibly powerful. Now, Seats.aero has added the ability to search for award seats through Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program.

Let’s take a look at what this development means for users.

Seats.aero Now Searches Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Now that Seats.aero can search Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, it offers live searches within 18 airline programs. KrisFlyer joins the following 17 programs:

Seats.aero’s addition of the KrisFlyer program comes shortly after competing airline award search engine Roame also added Singapore.

Maximizing Seats.aero KrisFlyer Searches

Seats.aero already searched flights from all 3 major airline alliances, including SkyTeam, Star Alliance, and Oneworld, so why is it such a big deal to add Singapore Airlines?

That’s because not all airline programs and alliances are the same — and Singapore Airlines can be a frustrating program. The KrisFlyer program tends to heavily restrict award space for partners, choosing instead to keep most availability for those who book with KrisFlyer itself.

Singapore’s website isn’t great for searching for award availability, either. There’s no calendar function, and you need to log into the site before you can even initiate a search.

Here’s an example of a live search on Seats.aero looking for a flight from New York (JFK) to Frankfurt (FRA), a fifth-freedom route that Singapore Airlines flies regularly.

As you can see, Singapore Airlines has award availability in business class when booking with KrisFlyer miles. Star Alliance partners United Airlines and Air Canada, however, do not.

Given that Singapore Airlines has some of the best business class seats in the world, it means it’s a big deal that you can now easily view award space.

Hot Tip:

Seats.aero is free to use, though a pro membership is required to search more than 60 days in advance.

Final Thoughts

Seats.aero has introduced the ability to search for Singapore Airlines award space on its site. This is a big deal — partner airlines don’t have access to this space, and Singapore’s own website is difficult to navigate, meaning this update will make it much simpler for passengers to find flights.
