Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Southwest Airlines is offering 30% bonus points when spending on your Southwest credit card over the next few months. There is a minimum spending requirement attached to this offer, though, and it ends on September 30.

However, you’ll earn more bonus points this quarter than normal (30% instead of 25%), and these points are Companion Pass-eligible.

You do need to register for this promotion — and must have a Southwest Airlines credit card — so let’s check out the details.

30% Bonus Points on Southwest Credit Cards

There’s a new targeted Southwest promotion offering an opportunity to earn 30% bonus Rapid Rewards points after spending at least $3,000 on Southwest cards through September 30, 2026.

Registration is required for this promotion, and not everyone will be eligible for this targeted offer.

These 30% bonus points are on top of what your Southwest card normally earns. You can earn a maximum of 20,000 bonus points with this offer.

Here are the details:

Earn 30% bonus points after spending at least $3,000 on your Southwest Airlines co-branded credit card.
Purchases must be made between July 1 and September 30, 2026.
Registration is required by September 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT. Purchases made earlier during the promotion window will retroactively count if you register by the deadline.
Bonus points count toward Southwest Companion Pass qualification but not towards Southwest elite status.
The following will not earn bonus points: balance transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or other cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, any fees including the annual fee.
Earned bonus points will be posted to your Southwest account (they will not appear on your credit card statement) within 8 weeks of the promotion end date.

Earning 30% extra points on $3,000 of spending amounts to 900 extra points. Based on our valuation of Southwest points at 1.3 cents apiece, 900 points are worth $11.70. You’ll also earn points on the spending, furthering your return on the spending.

Hot Tip:

This offer applies to all purchases during the promotional period — not just purchases in specific categories like we’ve seen in previous versions of this promotion.

Final Thoughts

There’s a new targeted offer to earn 30% bonus points on Southwest credit cards if you spend at least $3,000 by September 30. That requirement averages out to $1,000 per month in purchases during the 3-month promotional period.

That won’t interest everyone. It will be interesting for those who are spending toward the Companion Pass or a new cardholder welcome bonus offer, though.

Enrollment is required, so make sure you sign up if you’re interested.
