When the stars align in the points-and-miles world, it’s always time to take advantage. And that was my intention with the unique opportunity to “triple-dip” when booking select hotels through Chase Travel.

With the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, it’s possible to stack several credits and benefits to save hundreds of dollars on my hotel reservation and unlock valuable on-site perks. It requires a bit of strategy and brushing up on the fine print and booking rules, but the result can yield a significantly discounted or, even optimistically, a net no-cost hotel stay.

Here’s an overview of my triple-dip strategy on this popular travel card.

Up to $500 Annual Credit for The Edit by Chase Travel

You can access The Edit by Chase Travel, a curated collection of luxury hotels bookable through Chase Travel, by having 1 of 3 Chase credit cards. This includes the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠, and the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card.

These cardholders can receive up to $500 in statement credits per calendar year for prepaid stays booked through The Edit, issued as up to 2 $250 credits for separate reservations, each requiring a minimum 2-night stay. Keep in mind that Ultimate Rewards points aren’t earned on the portion of the stay covered by the statement credit.

You could also pay for part of the stay in cash, use Ultimate Rewards points for a portion of the booking qualify for Points Boost, where points can be worth up to 2 cents each toward the purchase.

Additionally, cardholders receive on-site benefits during their stay at The Edit hotel, including a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for 2 guests at most properties, a room upgrade at check-in (when available), complimentary Wi-Fi, and early check-in and late checkout (when available).

$250 Credit for Select Chase Travel Hotels (2026 Only)

Until December 31, 2026, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders also receive an additional up to $250 in credits at participating hotel brands available on Chase Travel (2-night minimum stay required):

  • IHG Hotels & Resorts
  • Minor Hotels
  • Montage Hotels & Resorts
  • Omni Hotels & Resorts
  • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts
  • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
  • Virgin Hotels

Fortunately, The Edit includes many of these properties, which is where stacking opportunities come in.

Automatic IHG One Platinum Elite Status

My Chase Sapphire Reserve card also offers complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status (activation is required). Platinum Elite status gives me a 60% boost in points earned for my stay and no blackout dates on rewards nights, allowing me to add nights before or after my reservation with The Edit.

Participating IHG properties qualify for IHG One Rewards elite benefits as well as The Edit program benefits. That said, some IHG elite status benefits overlap, including early check-in, late checkout, room upgrades, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Hot Tip:

When spending $75,000 in a calendar year on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card or $120,000 in a calendar year on the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card, you receive complimentary IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite status.

$300 Travel Credit Benefit

If my timing is precise, I can even apply the $300 travel statement credit (which is available on both the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card). The credit is available once per card anniversary year.

If I haven’t used it during my cardmember year, the hotel booking with The Edit could trigger the travel credit when I pay with my card.

How My Triple-Dip Strategy Works

Technically, I could have used all 3 credits toward my stay –— the $250 hotel credit with The Edit, the $250 select hotel brand credit (usable through the end of 2026), and the $300 general travel credit. However, I ended up using only the first 2 credits and saving the last credit for other travel expenses, such as booking flights.

My first objective is to use both The Edit credit and the select brand hotel credit during the same booking on Chase Travel.

Once the entire list of 1,399 properties populates, I can filter the results to my chosen geographic area.

When selecting a property, I want to ensure it’s part of The Edit and IHG One Rewards to trigger the select brands hotel credit for 2026. Note that all hotels in The Edit are eligible for Points Boost, meaning I’d receive up to 2 cents in value for each Ultimate Rewards point redeemed.

From the list, I selected a guest room at the InterContinental Cartagena — a nice hotel at a reasonable rate.

During the booking process, I reviewed any available credits left on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card that could apply to this reservation. As you can see, I had the option of using both the $250 statement credit for The Edit and the $250 select brand hotel credit.

With a combined $500 in hotel credits, the net balance for my stay drops down to just $9.32.

I could pay in points, but I will pay with my card in order to receive the applicable credits.

Finally, in addition to the statement credits, I would receive IHG One Rewards points, an elite night-eligible stay credit, and any applicable IHG One Rewards benefits.

Final Thoughts

It’s true that the Chase Sapphire Reserve card charges an enormous $795 annual fee. However, frequent travelers have much to gain, even from 3 credits displayed above. In 2026 alone, I’ll easily find more than $1,000 in value from these benefits, without factoring in anything else offered on the card — and enjoy a fancy hotel stay for less than the price of lunch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Edit by Chase Travel credit worth it?

Yes, it can be. The best way to maximize The Edit’s $500 annual credit (up to $250 per a booking) is to find an affordable rate hotel. Las Vegas is the city with the least expensive rates, but there are plenty of properties where the credit can significantly discount your stay.

Can I use just Ultimate Rewards points for The Edit booking and receive The Edit credit?

No. You must book a portion of The Edit reservation using your card. The credit applies to the amount your charged on your Chase Sapphire Reserve card, up to the $250 limit per booking.

Will booking with The Edit trigger the up to $300 Chase travel credit?

Yes. Hotel bookings with The Edit are considered travel and trigger the $300 annual Chase travel statement credit.

Does every IHG hotel qualify for both the select hotel credit and The Edit credit?

No. Only properties with certain hotel brands, like IHG, that are also part of The Edit qualify for both credits.

Do IHG One Rewards elite benefits apply to Edit hotel bookings?

Yes. Applicable IHG One Rewards elite benefits apply to IHG properties that are part of The Edit.
