Sun Country Airlines is expanding in the heart of the the U.S. The carrier will start 2 new exciting routes from Tulsa (TUL) next May, which the airline confirmed to Upgraded Points this morning.

Here are the details of these new flights.

New Sun Country Flights From Tulsa

Sun Country Airlines said on October 28 that it would launch service from Oklahoma’s Tulsa International Airport (TUL) to both Cancun (CUN) and Minneapolis (MSP).

Both flights will operate twice weekly, flying on Thursdays and Sundays. Sun Country says flight times may vary slightly by week or month; however, current times are available when searching for each flight directly at SunCountry.com.

At the time of publishing, we aren’t finding these fares in Google Flights, but we’ll keep an eye out.

This should be welcome news for Tulsa-area customers. The airport, just 10 miles from downtown, doesn’t currently offer any nonstop flights to either Cancun or Minneapolis. Customers interested in flying to either destination need to take a connecting flight through Chicago (ORD) if flying United or Dallas (DFW) if flying American. This will offer customers more nonstop options, making it easier to get to their vacation or work trip.

Cancun will also become Tulsa’s only direct international destination — and it should be popular for travelers looking for an easy getaway. We’re seeing one-way flights for $157 on this route.

It’s been an exciting year for Sun Country. The airline recently launched a new credit card with Synchrony that rewards travelers for flights on Sun Country (up to 5x points) and for everyday purchases.

Bottom Line:

Sun Country also simplified its Sun Country Rewards program, making it easier to earn Plus status. Now, you can earn Plus status by taking 10 flights in a calendar year (or spending $10,000 annually on the airline’s co-branded credit card). Plus members receive benefits such as no change or cancellation fees, priority security, and more.

Sun Country Extends Schedule Through September 8, 2026

That wasn’t the only news from the Minneapolis-based airline this morning. Sun Country has extended its schedule through September 8, 2026

The schedule includes beach destinations such as Cancun and San Diego (SAN), as well as mountain destinations like Denver (DEN)

All told, Sun Country will fly 115 routes serving 100 airports across the U.S., Mexico, Central America, Canada, and the Caribbean. You can check out the full schedule here.

Final Thoughts

Sun Country’s expansion gives Tulsa travelers more nonstop options to exciting destinations — including its only international flight to Cancun. New routes are always exciting, but Sun Country took it a step further by also extending its schedule through early September 2026.
