WestJet is planning a significant U.S. expansion, as it adds 5 new U.S. routes from Canada, including 3 new cities.

Here’s what you need to know about WestJet’s new routes coming to the U.S.

3 New U.S. Destinations for Low-Cost Carrier

Canadian low-cost airline WestJet will add 5 new U.S. routes, according to Ishrion Aviation on X. The new routes are:

The routes will begin next year, with the first flights taking off in May 2025. According to Ishrion Aviation, Anchorage, Raleigh, and Salt Lake City are new destinations for the airline.

Additionally, the airline will increase service between Calgary and Austin (AUS) to 3x weekly and is expected to offer flights between Edmonton and Chicago (ORD). However, no information is available yet on when that route will begin or its frequency.

Unfortunately, these routes aren’t available on WestJet, Google Flights, or an online travel agency (OTA) like Expedia just yet. However, we’ll keep an eye on the new routes and will update this post with pricing and availability when we know more.

Bottom Line:

This has been an exciting and busy year for WestJet, which has been laser-focused on its U.S. growth. Earlier this year, WestJet announced nonstop flights from Saskatchewan, Canada (YQR) and Edmonton to Minneapolis (MSP) and Atlanta (ATL), respectively. The airline will also add nonstop flights to Minneapolis from Calgary in April 2025.

WestJet is Canada’s second-largest airline after flag carrier Air Canada. The airline was founded in the mid-1990s to give Canadians more low-cost, direct options. Boasting a fleet of nearly 200 aircraft, WestJet serves 100+ destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia.

The airline also has a leisure arm in Sunwing Vacations Group, which it acquired along with Sunwing back in 2022.

While WestJet is not part of a major airline alliance, the airline does have a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines. Other codeshare agreements with WestJet include Air France, Emirates, Japan Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.

Final Thoughts

Canada’s WestJet is expanding its U.S. route map, with several exciting cities rolling out in 2025. Most of these cities have no direct flights between them, which will give WestJet a competitive advantage over other airlines.
