Kids love water parks, and they’re fun for adults, too.

So what better way to vacation with your family than at a water park resort? Add in all-inclusive amenities and you have a recipe for a fun-filled family vacation that everyone can look forward to.

Cancún, Mexico, is a destination with plenty of water park resorts to choose from. Here’s our list of 10 all-inclusive family resorts in Cancún with water parks.

How To Get To Cancún

Cancún is located in the Yucatan Peninsula on Mexico’s west coast.

It is easily accessible by plane, especially to those traveling from the southern U.S. or the East Coast. All major U.S. airlines fly to Cancún.

Thanks to warm, reliable weather, December through April is the best time to visit. March and April are the most popular times to go and have the best weather in particular — perfect timing for a family spring break vacation.

There are other popular vacation destinations near Cancún as well. Tulum and Playa del Carmen are within driving distance of Cancún International Airport (CUN). For a more laid-back experience, you could also spend time on the relaxing island of Isla Mujeres.

What To Expect in Cancún

It’s worth mentioning that the first thing you’ll likely experience when you arrive in Cancún is a long line for customs. However, once you get through it, you’ll be on your way to enjoying your vacation.

There’s a lot of things to do in Cancún and the surrounding area, in addition to indulging in the amenities at your resort.

History and culture buffs can look forward to a visit to Chichen Itza, the ruins of a pre-Colombian Mayan city about 2.5 hours from Cancún. Or you could visit the smaller site of El Meco, another ruin, which is just 20 minutes from the Cancún Hotel Zone.

For maximum fun, you could take the family to Xcaret Park, a water park, amusement park, and eco-archeological destination all in one. There are even cenotes, natural pits filled with water, that you can swim in.

Lastly, adventure seekers can spend the day on many excursions that can be arranged through your resort. Activities to choose from include zip lining, ATV rides, snorkeling, and swimming with dolphins.

What To Pack for a Water Park Vacation

In addition to your usual packing list for a warm-weather vacation, you’ll want to pack a few other items when planning to spend all day at a water park.

The first thing on your shopping list might be water shoes for every family member. Some may feel this is unnecessary, but water shoes help prevent slips and falls when running around the wet ground. They’ll also come in handy at the splash pads or pools where the surface tends to be slippery.

Next up is a sun hat or visor. When lounging at the pool, you may not think to bring a sun hat because you probably have an umbrella to rest under. But when running around a water park all day, it’s a good idea to pack a waterproof sun hat or visor.

And the last item to pack for a water park vacation (in addition to your other warm-weather items) is a refillable water bottle. Keep your kids hydrated between each slide to help combat the multiple hours they’ll spend in the sun daily.

Hot Tip:

Don’t forget about sunscreen. Bring your favorite biodegradable and reef-safe sunscreen whenever you go to the beach.
