With Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you get access to both airline and hotel rewards, thanks to their many transfer partners. Long considered one of the most valuable and flexible points currencies, miles and points enthusiasts are always happy to earn more of these!

Thanks to the Chase Refer-A-Friend program, you have the opportunity to earn more points when your friends sign up for a new Chase credit card.

Not only can you refer friends to cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points, but you can also share referrals to Chase cards that earn United miles, Southwest Rapid Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy points.

How to Find Your Chase Referral Links

Chase has put together a simple site where you can create all your referral bonus links. You can then send referrals to friends via email or share your referral links on Facebook and Twitter.

You can also now use the Chase app to refer friends.

The process is simple: once a friend applies and is approved for a card through your referral link, you’ll receive a bonus. The number of points you receive depends on what card you referred your friend to sign up for.

Your friend will also likely be eligible for a sign-up bonus, which only sweetens the deal for everyone!

When you visit the Chase Refer-A-Friend site, you’ll need to provide 3 pieces of information to access your referral links.

  1. Last Name
  2. Zip Code
  3. Last 4 digits of your card

Your Referral Details

This page will give you the details of what your friend will receive when they sign up and how many points you can earn per referral bonus. It will also indicate the maximum reward points you may earn through referrals each calendar year.

How To Refer a Friend

You have 4 options for sharing your referral links — Email, Facebook, Twitter, and the Chase Mobile App. Let’s talk about each.

Email Referrals

Chase Email Referral

Emailing your referral link directly to a friend is the first option you’ll see. It requires you to enter the first name and email address of your recipients. Surprisingly, it can take up to 7 days for the referral email to be sent, making this the slowest method for referring a friend.

Facebook Referrals

By clicking the Facebook button, you’ll be shown a “Share on Facebook” link that will create a post with your referral link to share on your Facebook profile. Unlike email referrals, this link is created immediately and can be shared instantly.

If you prefer, you can copy the link and paste it into an email for a faster workaround to the email system.

Twitter Referrals

Referring friends to Chase cards via Twitter is virtually the same as via Facebook. Click the Twitter button and click “Share on Twitter” to create a tweet with your referral link. As with Facebook, this link will be created right away so you can share it immediately.

This might be the most common method of creating a link to share with friends since you can share it so quickly.

Chase Mobile App

Chase has now added the ability to refer friends from the Chase mobile app, which makes it even easier to refer a friend on the spot.

Once you’ve logged in and are viewing an overview of your accounts, you can find the card to which you want to refer a friend. Under the card name, you’ll see an option to “Pay Card” and three blue dots next to that. Click the dots and, if you’re eligible to refer, you’ll see the option to “Refer Friends.”

You’ll then be taken to a screen that will allow you to send an email or text invite.

Chase Credit Cards Eligible for Referral

The cards eligible for referrals change occasionally, so if you can’t refer someone today be sure to check again later. Note that the opposite is also true: some cards are eligible today, but won’t be at a later date.

To refer a friend to a Chase credit card, you must be a hold of that card. That means, for example, that you must have an Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card to be able to refer others to it.

For those who have the Chase Ink Plus Card (no longer available for applications), you can provide referrals to the Ink Business Preferred.

About Spencer Howard

Always a fan of flying, it was only natural that Spencer was drawn to finding a way to improve the travel experience. Like many, he started this journey searching for cheap flights to take him around the world. This was fun for a while, but Spencer was intrigued by the idea of flying in business and first class! Throwing himself into what became an extensive research project, Spencer spent 3-4 hours per night learning everything he could about frequent flyer miles over the course of several months (he thinks this is normal).

  1. can I use refer a friend for Chase Southwest Premier credit card and receive the 60,000 bonus?

    Reply

    • Hey Kar,

You will not earn 60,000 miles for referring your friend. Your friend will receive 60,000 miles after meeting the minimum spending requirement. You will receive 10,000 miles for each friend referred and approved.

  2. Weird question: I already have Chase Freedom but not the Sapphire Preferred. If my sister refers me for Sapphire Preferred, do you suppose it’s likely she would still get the point bonus, even though I’m a pre-existing Chase customer?

    Reply

    • Hi Heather,

Yes, if your sister refers you for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card she will still receive the referral bonus since you don’t currently hold the Preferred card. Thanks for reading!

      • Hi, just referred my friend for Southwest Plus and they were approved with a sign up bonus of 40,000 points. If the sign up bonus increases in the near future, would they be able to request to be matched to the higher offer? I am aware people have done this with Chase before, but am not sure if a referred friend asking for a match makes things complicated.

        • Hi John,

Yes, if the sign-up bonus increases then your friend can submit a request to be matched to the with the increased offer. Just keep in mind it is up to Chase discretion on whether or not they will approve it.

  3. Hello,
I received $500 in Disney rewards for referring five people in 2018. Am I allowed to receive another $500 for 5 new referrals in 2019?

  4. Will the new cardholder get the bonus points along with the signup bonus?

    • Hi Ryan,

Can you clarify what you mean? The person signing up for the card will receive the welcome offer, but the person who refers them will receive the referral bonus.

  5. I have about four chase credit cards (2 business, 2 regular) and not a single one gives me a referral offer. It’s really frustrating because I would like to earn referrals…have you ever heard of anyone else having this issue?

    Reply

    • Hi Lauren,

Unfortunately, not all Chase credit cards offer referral offers. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card almost never offers a referral bonus, while the Chase Sapphire Preferred usually does.

I have a Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Credit Card. It appears that the refer a friend feature works for my card. Can I refer myself from the business credit card to a Chase Personal Credit Card?

  7. Hi Jarrod,

If I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, will I get referral points if I refer someone to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred card?

    Reply

    • Hi Liam,

Chase referrals only work for the card you hold. So you must have the Chase Sapphire Preferred in order to refer someone to it.

I don’t think you can refer to Ink Business. I don’t think ANY chase business cards currently offer referrals. Right?

    • Hi Curious,

Ordinally, you can send personal referrals for the Chase Ink Preferred and the Chase Ink Unlimited. But Chase has put a hold on the referral programs on these cards for the time being.

  10. There is a current offer where I will receive points and so will my friend (I think it was 15,000 or something like that) if I refer them to Chase Preferred. Will they be able to receive the referral bonus and new sign up bonus?

    Reply

    • Hi Jay,

You will receive the referral bonus of 15,000 points, not your friend. But your friend will be able to receive the sign up bonus assuming they meet the minimum spend requirement.

      Thanks for reading!
