Great Card If
- You’re a frequent Wayfair shopper.
- You feel comfortable choosing one of 2 specific benefits on each Wayfair order.
- You want to finance your Wayfair order.
- You spend a significant amount on groceries and online retail purchases.
Don’t Get If
- You don’t shop at Wayfair.
- You don’t want to have to choose between perks every time you make a purchase.
- You tend to carry a balance on your credit cards.
Wayfair Mastercard: Is It Worth It?
The Wayfair Mastercard is best for shoppers who spend a significant amount across Wayfair’s family of brands, which include Wayfair, Joss & Main, AllModern, Birch Lane, and Perigold.
The $0-annual-fee card offers several positive features, including financing options ideal for large purchases, the ability to redeem rewards for Wayfair purchases, and bonus points on other spending categories, such as groceries and online purchases. You also get complimentary membership in the Wayfair Rewards program (which typically costs $29 annually). Note that you won’t receive a refund of your annual Wayfair Rewards membership fee if you’re already a member when you get the card, so it’s best suited for new members or when your membership is up for renewal.
However, the extremely high APR (up to nearly 34%) makes it tough for us to recommend this card, especially if you tend to carry a balance.
Although it has a $0 annual fee, the Wayfair Mastercard charges numerous other fees, including a 3% foreign transaction fee, cash advance fees, balance transfer fees, and late payment fees. A better card would be one with a 0% APR introductory offer or one that offers bonus points for groceries.
Alternatively, you could get a card that gives you 2x miles on everything, such as the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. There are also plenty of credit cards that don’t charge foreign transaction fees.
Hot Tip:
Note that when you apply for the Wayfair Mastercard, you’re applying for 2 cards via 1 application: the Wayfair Mastercard and the Wayfair Credit Card. The cards are similar, but you can only use the Wayfair card at the Wayfair family of brands. You could be approved for the Wayfair card alone or both. If you’re approved for both, it’s best to get the Wayfair Mastercard, which offers more versatility via its additional reward options.

Hot Tip:
Note that if you choose the financing option, these are the terms: 6 months of financing on orders of more than $199, 12 months of financing on orders of more than $799, 18 months of financing on orders of more than $1,499, and 24 months of financing on orders of more than $2,999. Ask Wayfair’s customer service for financing options of up to 60 months.
Best Ways To Earn and Redeem Your Wayfair Rewards
The easiest way to earn Wayfair Rewards is to spend at Wayfair brands, as you can get between 5% and 7% back, depending on which perks you choose. Grocery shopping and online shopping can also help you build up your Wayfair Rewards balance.
However, redeeming rewards is limited, as it can only be done on Wayfair purchases. Although Wayfair Reward Dollars don’t expire and you can often combine them with other promotional offers, being limited to using your reward dollars only for Wayfair purchases is a major drawback.
Alternative Cards to the Wayfair Mastercard
Consider applying for these cards instead of the Wayfair Mastercard:
We consider this $0-annual-fee card to be one of the best cash-back cards available, offering bonuses on purchases such as travel booked via Chase Travel (5%), dining, and drugstores (3%), and 1.5% on everything else. The cash-back is flexible, meaning you can spend it on anything, not just Wayfair purchases, or even turn it into Chase Ultimate Rewards if you have certain other Chase cards. Plus, this card has a 0% Intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers, then a variable APR of 18.24% - 27.74%.
If you frequently spend on groceries, consider the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card, which offers 6% back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in eligible purchases (then 1%). You have plenty of other bonus earning options as well, with 6% back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions, 3% back at eligible U.S. gas stations and on transit (including taxis, ride-sharing, parking, tolls, trains, buses, and more) purchases, and 1% back on other purchases. Plus, it has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95 (rates & fees).
Hot Tip:
If you want to shop at Wayfair, instead of getting its credit card, consider one of the alternative cards mentioned above. Then, check your Chase Offers or Amex Offers to see if you can get a Wayfair discount or additional cash-back.
