In March 2025, big changes came to United’s lineup of credit cards, including the addition of hotel statement credits to nearly every United card. Depending on your card, you can get up to $200 annually in hotel credits when you book through United Hotels or Renowned Hotels and Resorts. These credits can help offset the cost of your stay and, in some cases, unlock luxury hotel perks.

Read on to see how these hotel credits work, how to use them, and whether they’re worth using. If you’re considering applying for a new United card or want to make the most of the card you have, understanding these credits can help you maximize value.

Bottom Line:

With select United credit cards, you can get hotel credits of up to $100 to $200 annually. The more premium the card, the higher the credit — and the better the hotel perks.

How To Use United Hotels Statement Credits

Using an eligible United credit card (United Explorer card or United Business card) to book United Hotels stays, you can receive up to $100 in statement credits each year. The credits are available $50 at a time, offering a $50 statement credit for your first 2 United Hotels stays of $50 or more.

Here’s how to use your credit:

  • Book with United Hotels exclusively.
  • Pay with your eligible United card.
  • Get a $50 statement credit for your first 2 hotel stays of $50 or more.

The credit is automatic, and no enrollment is required. Your credit automatically applies to your account after an eligible purchase, but it could take up to 6 to 8 weeks to process. The benefit is based on your cardmember year, not the calendar year, and your account must be in good standing to apply the credit.

How To Use Renowned Hotels and Resorts Statement Credits

With the United Quest card, United Club Infinite card, and United Club Business card, you get up to $200 in Renowned Hotels and Resorts statement credits annually. The United Quest card has a $150 annual credit for Renowned Hotels and Resorts, and both United Club cards have $200 annual credits for the hotel program.

Here’s how you can use this benefit:

  • Book through the Renowned Hotels and Resorts for United cardmembers platform via Chase Travel
  • Use your eligible card.
  • Receive up to $150 or $200 as a statement credit, depending on which card you have.

Unlike the United Hotels credit, you can use your full statement credit at once. You don’t need to break it into $50 segments.

Like the United Hotels credit, the Renowned Hotels and Resorts statement credit is automatic and doesn’t require enrollment. It’s based on your cardmember year, and your account must be in good standing. It could take up to 6 to 8 weeks to see your credit.

When you book through Renowned Hotels and Resorts, you also get elite-style benefits, including free breakfast, a $100 property credit, space-available room upgrades, early check-in and late checkout when available, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Are the United Hotel Credits Worth It?

United credit card hotel credits can help you get more value out of your card, especially if you already book travel through United Hotels or Renowned Hotels and Resorts or you don’t mind using a third-party booking platform. With up to $200 in hotel credits annually, there’s potential for meaningful savings every year.

That said, you have to actively use the credits to get value from them. If you favor direct bookings with hotel brands to earn points or use elite status perks, you might find these credits cumbersome to use. If you’re booking independent hotels or properties where elite perks don’t matter, it can be a reasonable trade-off to trigger a $50 credit for a stay with United Hotels.

The Renowned Hotels and Resorts credit can offer more value if you like luxury stays. While these bookings are through a third-party site, you get elite-like perks that can make it worthwhile to use your credit. Just remember you’ll be on the hook for the difference if your booking exceeds the credit. So if your stay is $450 and you have a $200 credit, you’d pay $250 out of pocket.

Final Thoughts

Hotel statement credits are now a feature of many United credit cards, and cardholders can use them to recoup some of their annual fee. Though you’re required to book through specific platforms — United Hotels or Renowned Hotels and Resorts — the potential value is solid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the United hotel statements require enrollment?

No, you don’t need to enroll to get a United hotel statement credit. The credits apply automatically when you make eligible purchases using your qualifying United credit card.

Can I use the United hotel on any booking?

No, the credit is only valid when you book stays through United Hotels or Renowned Hotels and Resorts, depending on your card. Bookings made through other platforms or directly with hotels won’t qualify, even if you use your United card.

Can I earn miles and still get the credit?

You can earn United MileagePlus miles for hotel bookings with United Hotels and Renowned Hotels and Resorts. Though you won’t earn miles for the portion refunded as a statement credit, you will earn miles for any hotel costs that exceed your credit.

How long does it take to get a United hotel statement credit?

It can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to see the credit post to your account. Also, the transaction must post within your cardmember year, not the calendar year, to count toward that year’s credit.

Can I split the United hotel credit across multiple bookings?

With United Hotels, the credit is issued as 2 $50 credits, so you must make 2 separate bookings of at least $50 to use the full $100. You can use the entire credit in 1 booking with Renowned Hotels and Resorts. If you don’t use the full credit, you can use the rest on another booking within the same cardmember year.
