While Frontier Airlines may not be the most aspirational airline for award redemptions, its Frontier Miles loyalty program makes it easy for frequent flyers to redeem miles and take advantage of elite benefits.

Thankfully, you don’t need to fly on Frontier often to earn a healthy stash of Frontier Miles. The airline has an array of partners that you can use to rack up miles relatively quickly, and in this article, we’ll show you how.

Let’s get started!

Sign Up for a Frontier Miles Account

First thing first: in order to earn Frontier Miles, you need a myFrontier account. Thankfully, creating a myFrontier account is quick and easy, and once you’re set up you can earn Frontier Miles by flying on Frontier, through credit cards, and by taking advantage of Frontier’s growing list of partners.

To sign up for a Frontier Miles account, just head over to the Frontier website and click the sign up button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Earn Frontier Miles With Credit Cards

Using credit cards to earn Frontier Miles is one of the easiest ways to earn a mass number of miles at once. And while the airline may not have any major transfer partners like Chase Ultimate Rewards, it’s still possible to earn miles with a credit card.

Frontier World Mastercard Bonus Categories
With bonus categories of 5x miles on Frontier flight purchases and 3x miles on all dining, you can easily build up enough Frontier Miles to take your first award trip. Image Credit: Frontier Airlines

The Frontier Airlines World card offers a slew of benefits, including a hefty signup bonus, a waived redemption fee, and Zone 2 priority boarding on all Frontier Airlines flights.

Plus, you’ll earn Frontier Miles whenever you use the credit card. The card earns 5x miles per dollar on Frontier Airlines purchases, 3x miles per dollar at restaurants, and 1x miles per dollar on all other purchases.

It’s worth noting that these miles are both redeemable and elite qualifying miles. This means that you can use the miles earned for free flights, and they also count towards earning Frontier Airlines elite status. However, note that the earning multiplier for Frontier and restaurant purchases does not count towards elite status.

2. Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to Frontier at a rate of 3:1. When you transfer 60,000 points, you’ll receive a 5,000-mile bonus. We don’t typically recommend this transfer, however, as you’ll maximize the value of your points when redeeming them for hotel stays.

Earn Frontier Miles Through Travel

Of course, you’re not just limited to credit cards when earning Frontier Miles. Here are a few ways you can earn Frontier Miles when traveling:

3. Frontier Airlines Airfare Purchases

Frontier flight attendant with family

Frontier Airlines is, indeed, an airline. So naturally, you can earn Frontier Miles by booking travel on Frontier Airlines. When booking Frontier Airlines tickets, you can use the Frontier Airlines World card we highlighted earlier to earn 5 miles per dollar spent on flights, giving you a nice bonus on your Frontier purchases.

But you don’t need a Frontier Airlines credit card to earn Frontier Miles on your flight. You’ll also earn 1 mile per mile flown on all Frontier Airlines flights, so if you fly on the 885-mile Denver (DEN) to Chicago (ORD) route, you’ll earn exactly 885 miles for the flight.

Frontier doesn’t sell business class tickets, so there’s no way to earn bonus miles on paid tickets. However, those with Frontier Airlines’ elite status earn bonus miles on all paid flights. Here’s how many bonus miles each status tier earns:

  • Elite 20K: no bonus
  • Elite 50K 1.25x mile multiplier
  • Elite 100K: 1.5x mile multiplier

If an Elite 100K member flies the DEN-ORD route mentioned above, they would earn 1,327 miles upon completing the journey. Plus, if the flight was $150 and charged to the Frontier Airlines World card, they’d earn an additional 750 miles since the card earns 5x miles on Frontier purchases.

Bottom Line: Frontier Airlines Elite 100K members earn the most miles on paid flights.

4. Book Hotels With Frontier Airlines Partners

Frontier Airlines has several hotel partners where you can earn Frontier Miles in lieu of the hotel’s own loyalty currency. We’ve outlined each of Frontier’s partners below alongside their respective mileage earning rates, broken down by hotel chain:

Specialty Earnings Opportunities for Frontier Miles

We’re not done yet — Frontier has a couple of specialty partners you can use to earn miles when purchasing gifts, wine, and more. Here’s a look:

8. Buy Flowers, Wine, and Gifts From Frontier’s Partners

Frontier Airlines has 2 retail partners: Teleflora and Vinesse Wines. This means that you earn extra Frontier Miles when purchasing gifts or filling your home wine cellar. Here’s how many miles you can earn when making purchases from Frontier’s set of retail partners:

9. Buy Miles at Points.com

Short a few miles for your next redemption? While buying Frontier Miles is generally a bad value, it can come in handy if you need to redeem miles right away. However, our general rule is to avoid buying miles whenever possible.

Final Thoughts

There are a ton of simple ways to earn Frontier Airlines miles quickly and easily. We recommend starting out with the airline’s credit card and then using Frontier’s rental car and hotel partners if you want to continuously earn miles.

Safe travels!
